Multiple dog owners - STORIES etc

Have you ever regretted adding another dog into the home? Or have you gotten another dog and its been the best thing ever?!

I am so worried that I won't have enough love for everyone and that my dogs wont like having another dog in the home, stealing their love - but surely its natural for dogs to be in a nice big pack? I have always wanted another dog, I have a plenty big enough house and garden for them, and plenty of time for them but the main thing I worry about is that I wont be able to give enough love to all of them!

My oldest bitch was a complete wench and could not tolerate another dog in the house (although was in love with a westie down the street, weird!!!) our last one was a love, loved other dogs and would tolerate other young whippersnappers bodyslamming her left right and centre. She was once attacked by an Irish Setter

and was brilliant with B.
Bella is obviously B's sister, they had lived together for a while and she had also lived with their other brother before she came to us, she can be a bit over the top playful and he needs to slap her down sometimes but they get on well.

There are plenty of people on here with HUGE packs

Well my pack isn't huge just the three of them and me!! Matty is the eldest and she was bought as a companion for our first rottie. They adored each other and Matt was devastaed when we lost Holly very suddenly (heart attack). Two days later we got Sage. They initially got on great and has some real rough and tumble sessions together. Then we got Dexter and for 12 months all was blissfully harmonious. Then Sage hit 36 months old and started attcking poor Matty. We think it was a dominance thing which we have (fingers crossed) got under control. Now they all play together and have a great time racing around the place.
As for whether you will love them all, don't fret, you will. I would have more but hubby and put his foot down with a firm hand and said NO!!
 
I have 4 at the moment but have had 5-6 at times with rescues in. Everytime we have added a dog to our pack (one thats deffo here for us to stay) I have had all the worries and fears you desribe. I think its very normal when you are extending your family to be worried about upsetting the apple cart so to speak. I have never regretted any of them and have plenty of love for them all and none of them have had their nose put out of joint (for more than an hour or two) by any neccessary changes in routine that an extra dog sometimes brings. They all love each other and me and I love all of them! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LOL

Don't worry yourself about it too much, I'm used to that slight feeling of panic, dread and worry and try to push it to the back of my mind now, recognising it for what it is....the sign of a responsible very loving doggy owner that probably cares too much!!

We have 11 dogs.... mad I know.... but everyone gets on exceptionally well. We have dogs from age 13/14 down to our youngest who is only 8/9 months. There is definitely a pecking order and but as long as you know your dogs well and can read animal situations well you will be fine! All mine live in the house and always have done. They are mostly rescues with a few purchases along the way. The live such a fun life with plenty of running about time as they are always playing with each and always have a buddy to sleep with.

We got Pippa, then Bear a year later.
We kept the runty (Harry) puppy from the litter Pip had back in September, and have puppies return all the time for little "Holidays".
Harry has sight problems, but doesnt seem to bother anyone, least of all him!
The only person in our household that has no time what so ever for the dogs is Little Stig.....who tries to stomp them.

That said, I dont think I could cope with 11 dogs!!!
 
I currently have five dogs, four bitches and one dog. They all tolerate each other and some are genuinely fond of each other! The ladies have the occasional squabble as girls do and the dog struts around like he is King You Know What. To be perfectly honest, four dogs was ideal for me and adding the fifth bitch slightly unbalanced the pack. They sorted themselves out eventually and I grew to love each and every one!
 
I have 3, they are a happy little crowd, better behaved together than when I had the single one. My only problem is my dog teaches my pup all the bad habits I'd rather she didn't learn!
