Just wondered if anyone had encountered anything like this before. I found an ad for a saddle pad on freeads and tried to send a text about it but it wouldn't send (maybe my mobile, not sure). I did a bit of googling and found many ads (probably 5 or 6) by the same user but each with a different mobile number. This makes me suspicious! Can anyone think of a valid reason for this? Shall I persevere or just give up?

I was thinking this the other day - suddenly the local paper is flooded with horses for sale, but close inspection of the numbers, and they all have one of four different numbers, in various combinations. Obviously a dealer who would prefer not to be recognised as one.. sm x

!!!
just did a bit more googling, it seems 070 numbers are often linked to scams and are very expensive to call. Sadly looks like someone is running a scam, I think I will contact the website but it just shows how easy it is to be fooled :(

Yep, theres a 100% good reason for it. When you put a free ad on a site the company that owns the site has to make money from it somehow so they change the sellers phone number to a premium number that you ring. This call gets transferred to the seller. This then rings on the sellers phone as an unknown number, thats why you cant send texts to it and any missed calls will come up as unknown.

You guys are so suspicous, lol. I have my pony on two different free to advertise sites, plus in two free to advertise papers, all shock horror with different numbers. There is defanetly no scam, i just want someone to buy my pony.

I have just had another look and you are right, in the small print it says about the calls being re-routed and costing 50p a minute. I don't think it is a bad thing to be suspicious though!
