Hi - does anyone have any experience with multiple joint injections for their horses and in particular injections into the sacro iliac joint. What the success rate is of improvement and just any general advice / info. Also is the undernoted the basic going rate for this type of treatment - many thanks

Yes, this looks about normal for pricing.

Mine is slightly different I am looking at intra articular injections for KS, and have been advised to repeat every 6 months, but my vet also wants to start Tildren as well for navicular, which is also just under £1000 per treatment, repeated every 6 months. Once the insurance runs out (they stop paying after 12 months) I wont be able to continue paying out nearly £4k a year indefinitely.

When my mare was diagnosed with a sacro problem they said she'd need regular injections into it and they would cost £300-400 a go. That was just what the vet said off the top of his head, so wasn't detailed as such.

She's had the 1st one. Just coming back into work so no idea if it has worked. Was told though that IF it did work (they couldn't guarantee) it would never be cured (unlike injections for a bone spavin for example where you are hoping one day the joint will fuse) and she'd probably need 3 or so a year to be kept in ridden work and they have to be done at the large hospital, not your regular local vet. Luckily she's field sound, so if she doesn't hold up to ridden work, she still has a home.

Damn me,our clinic has to put it is prices up!!! Seriously, it doesn't sound too unreasonable TBH, we charge quite a bit less for out joint injection fees, but the drugs are about the same. I guess it also depends on the amount of sedation used!! TBH it looks from what they've quoted you, your horse is very good!! :D

My girl had her sacro iliac injected three times and my vet charged £330 each time for both sides to be done - what else did you have treated at the same time as you have 4 joint tap / injections + the 2 x sacro ones listed.

It did make a massive difference to her comfort, but unfortunately she needed PSD surgery as that goes hand in hand with sacro damage. The jabs were only lasting her a matter of weeks :-o
