Mum is broken but proud of baby Percy!

Percy and Zoom live with my mum in France. She is 61 and wasn't horsey before I got mine 7 years ago.

I got a text from my dad on Thursday to say that mum had fallen and broken her wrist when leading the horses up from the field I was terrified that Percy had done something bad and hurt my mum.

It turns out mum's laces had come undone and Zoom stood on the lace and sent mum flying. A very unfortunate accident!!!

BUT instead of being upset, the first thing my mum said on the phone is how happy she was that Percy waited quietly on the side of the road for 20 minutes until dad came to the rescue. My dad is not terribly mobile after having a stroke but Percy then walked beautifully up to the house with my dad even when the tractor went past. What a star!!! It's a good thing he's so quiet as mum will be in plaster for 6 weeks at least

Sooooo...........at 9 months he is now leading, tying up, grooming, having the farrier trim his feet all perfectly! Love love LOVE him!!! Pointless post but so glad everything is going to plan.

So sorry to hear about your mum, I hope she is a bit better today. I always say with horses that they really seem to know when there is a problem, its like they just know when things are not right. So well done to them for being very calm. We had a horse that was a right pain with its owner, but when her frail father led the horse it did not act up at all. My girl will walk really slowly for me and if I fall over she wll just wait till I can get up, they really do know. Hope your mum gets better soon.

Thanks hun, she is a bit frustrated (especially since she is a piano teacher!!!!) but managing.

It's amazing how they know when they have to be calm. Mum said poor little Percy just stared at her on the ground and then gave her a nudge with his nose. He has always been good with Dad, he still has coltish moments but never with my Dad. They definitely understand more than we think

It's amazing how much they know. I've currently got my leg in plaster after surgery on my ankle a couple of weeks ago and when I went to the yard to see my girl she carefully sniffed at my foot, looked at me and then was really careful about where she was (she's normally such a cluts)

I haven't got any recent pics so will take some when i visit him next week. He is now as big as Zoom and looks the spit of his mum! Love him
