did it take to teach your child up-downs? It's so long since my eldest learned that I've completely forgotten.
Am hoping to get my 3 year old out to some little shows and just wanted an idea - I know some pick them up waaay quicker than others. Also, how many times a week did you have them riding at this stage?
Thankies :)

I'm trying to teach my OH so any ideas (besides copying me as there is only one horse!) would be interesting...

For them to get the hang of it I used to make them do the "up downs" when the horse is just stood still or walking. Then little bits of trotting. That used to work very well :)

^^^Yeah, that^^^^

Stand the pony, tell them to stand up, then sit down, then up etc....getting faster so they get the hang of it. Also saying 'up down' or '1-2' to them while they are doing it helps, plus getting them to say it while they are doing it too.
