Noodles needs some mumsy advice - I am getting really confused about what washing liquid to use for my breeches (especially the whites)!

Once upon a time, I just put everything in the washing machine and off you went! Now you have Biological, Non-Biological and Sensitive (Wool). I only have Pikeur and Cavallo breeches (Pikeur Fibric 2000 with full seat, Cavallo Softshell with full seat and 96% Cotton). I read the labels and they all say use mild detergent and no fabric conditioner.

I have a funny feeling both the Bio and Non-Bio got built-in fabric conditioner. Now I started using Sensitive (Wool) washing liquid for my breeches. However, it just can't shift the marks on my whites, especially the seat panel (they are all Cavallo 96% cotton). I even emailed Cavallo for advice but they never replied.

Would some of you good mums please let me know what to use?

I rub a bar of vanish on saddle marks (slightly damp with warm water), then use any non-bio liquid on a 30 degree wash NO fabric conditioner, works for my pikeur show jods and they have lasted for years.

Biological washing powder contains the enzymes which will shift the stains and it can also be used at lower temperatures. Don't think the saddle stains will be shifted by non-bio powder.

Don't think Bio stuff has fabric conditioner in as standard although you can buy ones that do but it is on the label. I use Persil Bio for everything. Cavallos & Pikeur and they seem fine.

bio and non-bio standard don't have fabric conditioner in them but you can buy ones that do so check your labels.

For white you may have to give them a bio wash but bio has enzymes in it which 'eat' the dirt so are harsher (don't ever use bio for something of the horses like numnahs). To start with try non-bio and vanish white. Together they get most things out and are nice and gentle. You shouldn't need to use the wool apart from on wool stuff. If you have a really stuborn stain then make up a paste with the vanish white and rub it in, leave it to soak for an hour or so then wash as normal. This even got s**t stains out my white brushing boots.

Vanish bar is the best for stains, it contains protease which breaks down protein type stains like blood etc, but you often need different enzymes for different stains!

I don't see why you would need to do them on a wool wash, modern fabrics and stuff!

I use the supermarket value powder, everything gets thrown in together with a nice smelling fabric conditioner (except towels, they get done without fabric conditioner!) and on the quick wash.
When whites start looking a bit dull they get bleached overnight then put on a hot wash.

Can't ever see myself faffing about separating laundry and using different lotions and potions to be honest haha
