What does reballoted mean? Did they mess up the first ballot?

Or did the person doing the balloting not know the *known* names and mess up by excluding some of them

Basically they had an initial ballot list. About a week later they then decided that they'd chuck some more people onto the ballot list (me being one of them) due to "daylight fading" or something along those lines.
yes, think they left the big names off so had to add them on, thus excluding us mere mortals.

That does seem unfair that they didnt register this in the first place. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise... getting there and being faced with the difficult, frustrating and costly decision of not running due to it being dangerous.

The argument about not balloting the top riders is an age old arguement that could no doubt fill pages on this forum! I often find that because they have multiple rides, some horses get in, others dont. People simply assume when they see such riders entered that all their horses have been accepted, which rarely is the case.

That's very true. I know Goring always have a worry as they're the weekend the clocks change so have less time on the Sat and if it's sunny the low sun can make it iffy running the last horses xc.
However I don't think that's the real reason - Munstead always runs before the clocks change so they know how many they can take. The letter also states " restrictions that have been enforced on us by BE" Be very interested to know what these are and if they are anything to do with the amount of competitions having to ballot so far. Have they reduced the numbers in sections?

I've also been balloted. Really upset and a bit cross as I checked on the wesbite after the ballot date and I was OK...and surely BE made the decision about how many people are allowed to run per day some time ago? I'm sure I read about it somewhere.

So I'm going to have a normal weekend, and not 'do' horses, apart from Monday when I've got something special on

Hi there, I know the organisers of munstead and I can honestly tell you that they are doing there very best. The reason for the reballot is to do with BE not the organisers. They always have a huge response to this very popular and well run event and its nothing personal or anything to do with so called "big names " its not like its an event where people come to watch just for the sake of seeing a professional. Im sure you are aware of the huge amount of work that goes into organising these events. Unfortunatley for you guys there are only so many hours in a day and as one of the volunteer helpers for the weekend it is a tiring enough day without running into the evening. For Munstead to continue to run in the friendly and professional way that it does I think it is important to keep the numbers to a safe level for everyones sake. I hope all of you who are running have another great day and those who cant I wish you better luck next time
