Munstead Horse Trials - Sunday 16th

The dressage/sj warm up seemed ok. The dressage arena I was in was awful, can't tell you much about the show jumping as I was putting all my energy in to getting little git of pony forwards and not napping! Places on the xc course weren't brilliant but most of it was avoidable. Two of the xc warm up fences had really deep pits on take off/landing side where they obviously haven't been moved for a while.
 
I withdrew! Everyone I spoke to agreed ground was hard and rutted but were still running. It personal choice at the end of the day- my lad doesn't like hard ground! I did wonder if after some horses had run they would knock the ruts out as its sand. Also hard sand does give more than hard clay!
 
I'm not liking the sound of the ground..... isn't that what the £15 start fee is supposed to be for? To improve the ground? Doesn't sound like we're getting our money's worth here :(
