Well for once we actually arrived at exactly the time we planned
smirk.gif
but spolied it by leaving Sparrow's passport at home so my lovely father had to fly down the A3 with it on his motorbike

.

Sparrow did a pretty good dressage test for him, he was very excited so he was a bit tense and rushed but Oli contained him very well. He ruined both the free walk and the medium walk by jogging which was a shame. They scored 37.6 which was a very fair score

Showjumping was pretty uneventful and they jumped a clear round
grin.gif
despite Sparrow's determination to jump the fastest round of the day

As they went clear showjumping Oli decided to jump the alternative at number 5 the corner. The alternative was an angled double of rails jumped the opposite way to the intro so it invloved doing a loop. They don't have any trouble making times so wasting time isn't an issue. It was definitely the right decision because they jumped a very confident clear round. The only slight problem was the time, the optimum was 5.06 and they were 4.03 oops

Oli had an unofficial warning because coming so much inside the time could be considered dangerous

and he's only 14.2hh

So at the end of the day they had 36.7 dressage, clear showjumping and clear xc with 24 time penalties! A lovely day was had by all, and it was only Oli and Sparrow's first affiliated event so we are very pleased.

I'm just uploading videos and photos of all 3 phases, will put them in the picture gallery when they're done.

Speedy pony, what do you have to do to get an offical warning regarding time?
wink.gif
Jet propelled pony or something? Well done though

Just noticed on BDWP you were in same section as one of my instructors

oopsie!! well done to them though a double clear with a good dressage is fab
grin.gif
- just watch out for the time i think next time maybe a better idea - even if they turn a huge circle away from any fences if they know they are going way too fast!!

Yes I think she's planning to stop and eat her lunch halfway round next time! Just looked at the final results and they would have been 7th without any time penaltiles, as it was they were 17th out of 30 completions.

thats annoying!! but atleast it wont tarnish their BE record as they were clean as far as jumping penalties go
grin.gif

Good luck for them with their next event

My horse is broken

the only sort of competing I've done at the moment is pony club horse and pony care teams (yes I really am that sad! national champions 06 and we've qualified for sansaw again this year
smile.gif
) because you don't need a functional horse for that

Hopefully he'll be back on track soon and we can get out and about.
