Muscle atrophy in the chest

Has anyone ever experienced fairly severe muscle atrophy in the chest and what it related to? Brief background....horse on and off 1/10th lame on right fore. Vet finding it hard to pinpoint why, due to lameness being so subtle. Soft ground only, on left circle only.

That sounds like a job for a good physio to take a look at, they are often more help than a vet for this type of thing and may come up with an answer as to why the muscle atrophy has happened, guessing it is ongoing rather than an old injury but it may have started with an injury in the area and been left with some deep minor damage that is not healing, it could have happened years ago but is only becoming an issue now for some reason.

Yes, after horse got wedged in anti weave grills in horse box and broke a rib. The atrophy was very obvious when horse out of work bit with good rehab and work it's pretty much gone now dispite him being out of work for a while
