mushrooms in field

YES, I have just moved Shy, but his old paddock was full of them. We debated whether they were magic mushrooms, tbh, but didn't dare try :eek: :D
 
I kept looking at them while poo picking and thinking.......well it could go either way really. I drop dead, foaming at the mouth ......I go on a trip somewhere :D, or absolutely nothing would happen, and i would still be bored out of my mind poo picking ......
 
I found two giant puffball mushrooms. Took them home, froze 1 1/2 and cooked the rest- delicious! and apparently expensive to buy.
 
I spotted two huge puff ball ones yesterday. They were much bigger than I've ever seen before in fact we though the horses were going to notice and object to them as they were right on the footpath.( can you just see the headline ? Rider injured when horse spooks at giant puffball :D I should have gotten off and bagged them now that I know they're edible ...
 
Freezing them did work, not as nice as when they are fresh though! I just fried them straight from frozen, there was too much to eat in one go, so with the guidance of google I decided to freeze them :) go back and fetch them TrasaM, they are £19 for 500g or £40 1kg

After a long, dry period, such as this summer, it's quite usual to get a lot of field mushrooms, particularly at this time of year. They are safe to eat, lovely on toast with grated cheese mmmmmmm

My old neighbour had a method for this. Try a tiny bit, wait a day or two. Still alive? Try a slightly bigger bit, wait a day or two. Still alive? Eat it! (And hope it's not one with late onset symptoms :D)

My old cat ate mushrooms, if we left them out on the kitchen side they'd be gone when we came back :)
