Im being really lazy and cant be bothered to look at the rules, so can someone tell me what the qualifying rules are? is it top 3 with over 60% to go to the regionals?

And im assuming the music regionals are run the same/alongside the normal regionals? Also I always thought they only did music finals at the Winter Championships, and not at the Nationals?

Im going to stick some music together and have a bash at the novice music before the end of the winter season, as i want to do the elementary and medium music in feb at Sparsholt and then Hartpury in march, so need to have a quick practice before then!!

I read on the BD website that you need to send in two forms of media when you enter? I can only do it onto CD, is that going to matter?

Sorry for all the questions!!!!

good morning!
everything u say is correct, except i dont think u need the music on two forms of media, u just normally hand the CD in to the show orgs when u get there!
hope that helps!

The vast majority of venues now use CD and some don't even have tape players any longer. However, do be aware of the peculiarities of computer written CDs.

Always use CD-R NOT CD-RW for your music. RW CDs do not always work in audio equipment - in fact, more often than not they won't. Check by putting your CD into some kind of CD player (as opposed to computer) before the event. Interestingly, the mre sophisticated the broadcasting equipment, the more likely it is to have problems. Also, take a backup disc with you as CDs can fail.

You don't have to "send in" music, just take it with you to the venue.

Yes top 3 with over 60% qualify but at one I went to watch one girl scored nearly 80% on both her horses !!!!!!!!!!!!At novice. Then at another we went to compete at there was only one in the elementary so he qualified with only just over 60%,so they are very up and down
Bet the regionals are tough though as it is an open class
Hope I don't meet that girl at regionals but have a feeling I might.

Just open section. Take care to have a back up for your music in case your CD doesnt play, this has happened at some big events. Its very true as Troi says that some computer generated recordings dont play on certain machines. This happened to a friend of mine at the AF, very fraught. Luckily she also had an audio cassette.

Take music with you on the day and hand it to the secretary and dont forget to pick it up again bfore you leave! LOL.

Make sure you send it to BD for them to veryify and put a sticker on.

i want to use something with a good beat that is interesting - so many music classes ive watched the music makes me want to fall asleep its so boring

im lucky in that ive already got programmes at home and i can do my own music as i used to DJ and compile CDs etc, so i can merge/split/loop and all that stuff myself, its just choosing the right music and geting my backside in gear and doing it!

im doing the novice hopefully in time to do one winter qualifier just as a practice somewhere. But im going to do the medium and elementary in feb, the novice is just a warmup

i really have no idea at the moment. Im going to look through my music tonight - i can take vocals off the top of tracks and just use the backing aswell (providing the vocal range isnt too vast) - so ive got a lot of choice!

actually...i have a question while we r on this subject
smile.gif

u know they run music classes in jan and feb etc, do they count towards winter regionals for this year or the year after? cos u know with normal classes u have to qualify before dec 1st, is that the same with the music?
im not sure cos there is no music at the summer regionals is there so maybe u can qualify for winter regionals right up until the week before and then any after regionals are qualifiers for the year after?
does that question make sense??? sorry if it doesnt..i hope u know what i mean!!!

do you mean that if someone has already qualified it passes down then?

yes, the rule book says the 3 highest non-qualified people gaining over 60% will go through to the regionals.

the regionals are hot stuff at all levels because no open and restricted so you're up against the pro's and even at Novice they have their super duper youngsters out there. We won our qualifier at Sparsholt with 70% and came 2nd last at the regionals - it was just a world apart.

I want all mine to be of RnB type... I think it would work really well for Grace

Plus, it would be bloody cool too and certainly wake folk up rather than sending them to sleep

yes cut off is end of novemeber, however i was looking at provisional dates in BD Mag last night and it had lists of music classes for all throughout the year. Thats why i didnt understand - so do you just qualify for the winter music regionals regardless of the time of year then?

cool-yea its just weird how the classes then carry on going thru dec/jan/feb etc and dont pause. i guess maybe they r qualifiers for winter regionals 2009-just seems funny can qualify for winter regionals 2009 in 2007!
