Hi, I have seen pictures of wild mustang horses and I see that a lot of them have quite hairy hooves, like that if a Welsh sec D cob I was wondering is this normal for mustang horses? Do/can they have a lot of draft horse in them, which results in the hairy hooves and fetlocks?

I read however on the Spanish mustang site that if mustang has this, that it is not accepted as a mustang because of this.

Does anyone know anything about this ? If I can I’ll find a picture as an example of hairy hoofed mustang

I’ve found a picture of what I mean, I know it’s a Welsh sec D cob, but the feet are what I’m focusing on. So a Spanish mustang horse but that has feathering like the Welsh sec D in the picture below

I'm not sure a UK forum is the best place to get information about mustangs which is probably why no one has answered. Is there no resources on google giving information on their breeding etc?

I believe they are the descendants of a mixture of different types of horses so some hairy types may well be in the genetic mix.
