Mutilated Dartmoor Foal

There is another thread about it. I'm very dubious about anything printed in the DM though, they are known for their untruthfulness.

It's horrible, but I do hate how the media like to speculate and seem to enjoy the gore.

sick b******s. Years ago I was walking on Dartmoor with friends and we discovered a dead sheep, neck broken, eyes gone, and we could sense a horrible evil feeling around it, reading the article brought it back to mind as we were sure it was the work of sick individuals.
RIP poor foal, and hope his mum isn't too traumatised :(

The thing is, there are many reasons why a sheep might break it's neck, and lots of creatures which would feast on its eyes once it was dead. I'm not sure what a "sense of evil" is though... :rolleyes3:

Can't begin to imagine what that poor baby must have gone through. In a way I hope it was dead very quickly, before the tongue slicing etc. they need locking up. Not that they will ever be caught. Makes me feel ill.

I find it hard to fathom 100 sheep were caught and slaughtered in 2006 and the police have no leads on this?? That would be some task, there would have to be a lot of people involved

I'd be very surprised if it was alive when it was mutilated incidentally, there is no blood, dead animals don't bleed. Alive ones bleed profusely. Whatever, its horrific.

We've had a Rural Watch memo from the police this week about cows down Bridgwater (2), who had had the bottom third of their tails cut off.

There are some sickos about, no doubt about that.

Some strange assumptions in that article. Also, a lot of the wounds on the foal could have been caused post mortem by scavengers, the white paint could have been bird droppings, the fire marks could have had nothing to do with it and been there already. Positioned to face the moon? I think there is more than a bit of hysteria going on. From what I know of Satanists they aren't interested in moons, solstices etc. just themselves and what they can get for themselves from the world.

Well whatever it has or hasn't got to do with, all i know is its f*ing disgusting and i wish the same amount of pain onto the people who have done it. At least the baby's at peace now.

Mmmm. The problem with anything like this, if it WAS/is being committed by "satanists" that inevitably there will be copy-cat incidents, and I'm wondering whether that's what some of the killings have been TBH.

Whilst not disputing that something might have happened to the poor foal, this could (looking at the carcase) equally been the work of a pack of feral dogs or something similar, even the panther-like "beast" that's been sighted (not a joke, we've seen it here a few years ago - just once, briefly). Dogs or feral big-cat would tend to bite out the genital/stomach area, and possibly an ear/tongue as well, and the crows would pick out the eyes very quickly.

So personally I'm not 100% convinced that this IS purely the work of satanists TBH. Tho' do accept there's a proliferation of weirdo's in any wild/deserted spot - I've come across some very weird stuff riding in the woods in an area not ten miles from where I live, and I don't think that was just kids messing around, it was far too well done for that. Scarey.

Yes I agree it is far more likely to have been hit by lightening hence the burned ring and scavenged by predators. Even if it was some horrific ritual it is stupid of the media to show these things and give some sort of credence to it and encourage copycats. It is not news it is sensationalism of the very worst kind

More likely to be foxes or badgers than a big cat or dogs. Crows will take the eye out but if both eyes gone something turned it over, which is more likely to be human, as scavengers will just eat the easiest bit and not be able to turn over a carcass of that size. A passing human may turn it over to see if any other injuries so doesn't necessarily mean foul play either. I still say it was dead before the injuries occurred and if that was a sheep in my field I wouldn't have come up with satanists being responsible, just a dead animal which has been scavenged.

Struck by lightening/death by other natural causes. Eaten by scavengers. Very sad but mundane.
Do calm down, people.
And really, really DON'T believe anything you read in the Daily Mail.

While the DM does tend to write rubbish, I have sadly, been informed in the past by 'escapees' of such self-styled 'satanic groups', that the fire circles and mutilations do happen, often in line with lunar cycles. I do hope that this pony died of natural causes, but the mutilation theory is unfortunately possible :(

I just thought I'd add that I can confirm this is true. It's literally a five mn walk from my home and I ride this way a few times a week. I'm absolutely appalled that anyone can do his! It leaves m speechless

An identical thing happened near my yard about 10 years ago, also to a foal so it does happen, as unpleasant as it is.

How do you account for the white paint nd the burn cicle surrounding the foal then? I'm not sure that crows or badgers carry paint pots and brushes with them.
