muzzle help please!

What way do you fit a green guard muzzle? Are the slits supposed to run verticle or horizontal? I have seen pictures showing it both ways. I bought a 2nd hand pony size one for my 14 hand arab x and it doesnt fit either way so now looking for a full size!

Always wear a muzzle with a balloon on your head, that is the right way

Well the helium is to assist in lifting your head off the floor because of the weight of the muzzle
