Hi I have never posted in here before so sorry if this has been posted before.

I have 2 dogs. A jack russell and a greyhound. My jack is a bit yappy and she goes around looking for a fight and causes most fights (i know like some other jacks). We have a shared garden of around 2 acres and we cant enclose any of it. Our front door is open most of the time and with 2 children we like to leave the door open so the kids can play in and outside.

I want to try and stop Tessa (jack russell) fighting and try and stop her barking as much. Would a fabric muzzle do this or does anyone else have any other ideas? Tessa does get on with some dogs but annoyingly not our neighbours!!

Thanks for any advice

It might but I would not leave it on her unattended (others may disagree)

What do you guys do when she behaves like this? Have you ever had a trainer out? Muzzling her will mask it/stop her physically executing these behaviours but that's about all.
No offence, but can you imagine what the response would be if you were talking about a Rottweiler or a GSD like this? :o just because she is small, doesn't mean she should be allowed to get away with being a little madam! :)

I agree she shouldnt be doing it. I dont want her doing it. I also could imagine the response if she was a bigger dog. She is a big angry dog in a little body!!! ha.
We try telling her off, getting her in the house or kennel when we know other dogs are out. However this is not how I want to go on. She is now becoming wise to being put in the house/kennel and sometimes just ignores us sticking her claws up in a 'v' shape as she does so!!!!
I thought for a while she wasnt getting enough exercise but when I ride in the forrest at the back of where we stay I take her with me. My husband also will take her running. It keeps her quiet when she is tired soon as she has had a sleep back to being a grump!
She is good with the greyhound amazing with kids. Its just other dogs. It might be worth us trying a trainer.

She needs correcting when she shows the slightest sign of being aggressive to other dogs. This means that when she show attention to another dog and not on you, you need to draw her attention to you with a lead correction or a touch with your footon her back end so she is surprised at the touch.

Watch Cesar Milan and how he corrects.Do it right and it really works.
