Are there any types that are better than others etc?

Its only an enquirey at the moment so as much info as possible would be fab!

My Greenguard just won't stay on lately as my pony has mastered the art of slipping the headcollar over his ears so the whole thing drops to the ground. Funnily enough he doesn't do it with the Shires one. Both have rubbed in different places but not too badly. The greenguard does need careful adjustment to fit properly and I find the bucket type to be much easier.

hi,
I also recommend shires muzzle, been using one for over two years, had no rubbing at all and shetland quite happy as can 'graze' and drink through small hole. On second one as they do wear through eventually but are reasonably priced.

I have used all three, greensuard, shires webbing and shires plastic bucket type.

I wouldnt buy another greenguard. IMO they just don't resprict grazing enough for small ponies.
The plastic bucket is good for REALLY restricting their grazing, but it rubs a wee bit.
The webbing one, again, isnt great for small ponies, but I've only had one rub. It depends on the animal really...

I've tried both the greenguard and the shires one. My shetland can get the greenguard off in a flash, if one of his field mates doesn't take it off first that is! The shires one hasn't came off yet and it's a lot cheaper than the greenguard!

Mines' got the Best Friend muzzle which comes a bit higher up the nose so IMO more difficult to get off.

It rubbed him at first so I got some spare pieces of Fybagee and wrapped them round the straps. I secured them with Gaffa tape and it works a treat, doesn't rub anywhere even on his thin TB skin.
