So annoyed!!
I splashed out last year on a Rambo tech duo for the horse I lost, happily it fits my new one perfectly.
However I noticed after a few days off in winter (off as in I didn’t ride so missed it at first) when I’d been leaving it on that it rubbed his withers. Purchased a decent stable rug and was careful about not leaving it on. This seemed to fix the issue and the withers healed.
Today however, riding I noticed a bit of skin lifting up with hair on and away came a bit the size of a £2 coin just in one go so I assume it’s rubbing again.
Any ideas, or any rug suggestions 50/100g combo with no seam over the wither area please?

I used to put a fleecy 'pad' in all off my rugs as they all used to rub him. I bought some fleece, triple folded it so nice and thick, then stitched it in. A ball ache but effective

I was told by a saddler that fibre tack (that white stuff one puts under leg bandages) is the only thing that one should put under a saddle to pad out with at the withers, could you attach some of that?

I had this with my precious Rambo as well. Solution was to fold a saddle blanket into the wither area. Polypad was ideal as it was light as well as thick and kept the pressure off the wither by spreading the weight of the rug over a wider area.

Not sure how best to explain but I’ll have a crack:

Take a saddle blanket, turning it sideways and place one half across the wither. Other half up the neck of horse. Put rug on as normal, then fold back saddle blanket from neck across top of wither. Stays in place well.

ive just made something simple sound complex - hopefully you can envisage what I mean.

If it’s on the top of the wither that rubbing make two rolls out of leg bandage padding then get some pollster dressing .
lay the rug flat and position the rolls and stick them on with pollster dressing leaving a good margin round each roll .
you can also make long triangles used a yoga mat or similar and fix on in the same way .

and if you can't be arsed with DIY you can also get wither relief bibs with padding either side or non-rub material
