Hello.....

my event plan is now live. i would love to get some placings this year so Im going to stick to BE100 untill we are getting near the time and then might have a go at novice.

I thought if I aimed for novice at Shelford and then Winkburn as walked both of these courses last year and there was nothing that scared me to much.

I might see you about then as this is just about the same event plan as I have, :D

Your website & blog look really good to me. I especially like the photo of her in the stable wearing her jam's, a Joules rug & a Mark Todd rug. Talk about a fashion queen!!! :D

Look forward to bumping into you (in the niceist of ways) in 2011, :D

Instead of looking at events you are going to run at - why not make more specific goals for the season? Break it down much more and then if that goal is ready to be achieved you find an event to run at?

I am not sure what writing the above will achieve?

You say you want to achieve placings but how are you going to achieve this? Maybe break down these goals into detail and then you can actually get something that you can achieve and tick the goals off on the way.

To go novice for instance:
Aim - Be working at novice level dressage:
To achieve this - Be working in a more advanced outline, Improve accuracy within the dressage arena, improve my seat be working towards sitting trot, have good rein back, counter canter and medium paces.

Aim - To be jumping novice Sjing
To achieve this: Go BSJA and be jumping confidently round newcomers, work harder at home and with my trainer on the adptability of the canter, make sure I am confident at home over heights of 1.20m. Increase the technicality of what I am jumping with my trainer, to improve my knowledge of a good canter and about striding and relateds.

Aim - To be confident to go round novice xc.
To achieve this: Practise at home novice level complexity over skinnys and corners, find a tough PN xc course and get round easily and within the time, practice galloping sets over 520m to get the feel of novice pace, imcrease my horses endurance and fitness, xc school round novice level ditches and water.

I am not sure if you will find the above helpful but it might be a better way of looking at your season rather than just looking at events and then getting disapppointed if they do not come off like you propose.

:) thanks, Twizzy is a fashion queen, where as me..... its george @ asda and tesco clothing :)

You thinking of doing BE100 to?

LOL, yes don't we all buy our horses the best gear going but ourselves!!!

Yes I will be doing the BE100. Not sure whether to start with an intro though just to get us back into the swing of things as our season came to an abrupt end at Allerton last September when she pulled a muscle in her back & we got eliminated on the XC course, :(

Will hopefully see you about :D If Wibbler is going well after a few unaff runs we'll hopefully affiliate him and go to some of the same events as you ;)

See you at Osberton in February!

not meaning to threadjack but ooooh, this advice is something that has just given me a lightbulb moment about planning my own season - thanks!!!

To get palced at BE100 i just need to go quicker XC :/ thats the only things thats held me back. I was nearly double c'ear at all my events and in the top 10 after dressage.

Good luck for the season Rach, looks like you and Twizzy will be busy! You did fab last year, esp. as its your first year on her. To help with your speed, have you thought about finding some gallops and timing yourself?

Bob has got so much quicker, but thats hunting, prob not a good plan with madam twizzy as she is too precious!

Hopefully see you at EMDG in Feb, sounds like quite a few going on here ;-)

Definately try the gallops - Wilby is very fast (read 'arghghhhhghhgh fast' :p) but only for short periods so we're going to try working on keeping going at a suitable (safe ;)) pace for longer on the gallops.

Are you coming too SamuelWhiskers? Please come and say hello; I will be on the confused looking gangly bay thing that will fall over in the dressage, annihalate all of the SJs and then stop at the first fence XC :)

Where do you go to use the Gallops BN??

Yes i'm entered up, i'm hoping 3rd time lucky that i actually complete it this year! First year i was ill, last year snow, then lame bob, both years i did the dressage......

So if i make it to the 2nd day, i'll say hello, will be on a very fresh big grey irish horse, no doubt being naughty in the warm up! LOL

We should be doing stressage (and SJ?) on the saturday - Wibbler is in the restricted section I think? I gather they've asked Mark to do the SJ course, so it won't be dog-legs galore this year :p

I use the late Mr Budge's gallops up near the hall - pretty sure they don't hire them out though :( Think the Dixons (at Haygarth House?) might hire theirs out?
