hi i started jumping my 4 yr old a few months ago however she will only jump towards home has any one got any ideas on how i can get her jumping both ways ?
thanks

Lots of young horses are reluctant to jump 'away from home' as they are uncertain.

It may look like nappiness, but don't get angry whatever you do!!

Make sure the jumps 'away from home' are really easy (cross-pole) and, even if you have to lower the jump to being poles on the ground, make sure the horse goes over it!

It is usually just a confidence issue, and as soon as they get the message that stopping is not an option, but going forward is rewarded, it will improve!

Sounds like your horse enjoys jumping 'towards home' so maximise on that and only ask for very little things 'away' - with huge rewards if obedient.

Remember, this is the formative time, and she must learn to enjoy the whole procedure, or all will be lost!!!
