Well I am not a competition rider but my husband is and we are planning to enter my 6 yo stallion in his first ever competition in our country in about a month's time. So I thought it is OK for me to post about his progress here ;)
He was very weak and lacked in muscle tone when we first bought him so we waited for a very long time to make him fitter. I have done lots of flat work with him and it started to pay off recently as he looks much better and everyone comments on how he seems bigger.
They set up a course of fences this morning at the yard so my husband had a go. This was the first time they jumped a course and my horse was really really brilliant. He didn't even touch a fence and was very eager to jump. We even had someone offering to buy him! (Which of course I declined :D)
So, for the photos (please no comments on lack of hat as no adult riders (apart from me and a handful of others) ever wear a hat here):

Throwing the back end high, I really like his style:

I think he has some scope, don't you?

And just because he really is cute:

PS: Sorry for the huge photos, photobucket is not allowing me to edit for some reason

He is gorgeous! Whereabouts are you? Love greys with black points :)

We are in Istanbul. And I adore his black mane, tail and legs (he even has a dorsal stripe like a donkey :D). I hope he stays exactly like this but I know that it is highly unlikely :(

Mine (now 12) still has black points, and darker mane - but has pretty much lost the dorsal stripe, I'm hoping for no more greying out too!
