My 83 year old Dad did his first XC today

That's excellent! Can you wear a head cam at BS events? I think so as you can hire them at some places.

Well done, a lovely round.

I loved that!!! She clearly enjoys herself xc, with her gorgeous little ears pricked the whole way around. Well done!!!

Exactly what I thought! Bless your Dad too - how nice that he can share in your passion even if only from his armchair!

This was unaffiliated but I had a very interesting chat with a BE man who says that rule should be either yes you can wear them or no you can't, none of this getting permission from the relevant organisation. As you say, there are now companies hiring them out at events and he said it's creating lots of work for them with regard competitors having / not having permission or proof of permission. He said as long as I didn't fall off and land on my head he was happy for me to wear it :D

Amazing! It's so cool to see you riding a proper horse, over proper jumps, instead of my silly little Ned XD haha!

Wonderful video :D

I'll tell Ned you don't think he's 'proper' :D

He used to come to all my events and take photos. His main aim was to get an ambulance in the background as I was pretty good at falling off :o

That's a fab video. I'd never be brave enough or good enough to do a course like that - so now it feels like I have :)

You are very calm and quiet (apart from all the lovely praise) - I bet I'd be saying 'aaaggghh' or worse words all the way round!!

You obviously have a lovely relationship with your horse - she listens to you and looked like she was loving that the whole way.

Thankyou. I'm going to do all my competition reports in here now :D

The optimum time was 4.20 and we did it in 4.16 so pretty much perfect.

She's not mine, she belongs to my YO but I'm her only rider so I'm very very lucky :D Mine is on sabbatical

MAN! I badly want a hatcam now! Also want to do that course, but just a tad slower, it looked breakneck from my armchair. Lucky your dad wasn't injured in the stampede...

OMG that is so funny. Bless your dad, isnt he wonderful? It was my first XC too! Im just not brave enough! Well done to you and your Dad:)

lol re stampede. I would of liked to of done it a bit slower too but brakes weren't that good - to much fittening work. At least she knows what speed to travelling at, she obviously read the instruction book :)

He's a legend. 84 in November but you'd never know it, he could pass for mid 60's :)

That was brilliat to watch! Dont usually bother with vids as my computer hates them but glad I watched this one!!

Really enjoyed your video. Im rubbish at seeing a stride, so was practising as i watched it. Thank you i will watch it again and hope i can learn from it :-)

Brilliant first time watching a head cam footage. Have to say looking with tear in my eye, she has the same head and pricked ears as my old ex racer did (maybe its just coz he was a grey) almost seemed as if I was back on board :)

For a nanosecond, I wanted to do XC myself, you made it look so easy. Then I remembered that my major triumphs are jumping the little horse gates on the forestry (about 1ft). Really enjoyed watching it, so thanks for sharing!

love it
by the way i think it's a must to watch with the sound on, your positive praise, encouragement and the stern ah ahs or listens are brilliant. they speak of a great partnership!

From a western rider, who doesn't jump if she can help it...that looked so easy. Bless her little ears pricked all the way round. And bless your excellent parents:)

Have just watched it (with the sound up :) ) with my 2 yr old little boy, who was going 'OOH!' over every single jump, patted the laptop when you patted neddy, and is now wandering round the house saying 'goo ger, goo ger' (good girl) :) so not only do I now desperately want to go xc, but so does my son!

That was lovely not only to watch, but to hear you praised your girl all the way round with some pats (when you could) too. I always taught my kids to do that. She had her ears forward like she was really enjoying it and she look like she was giving her all for you. Bless her. Well done both of you.
