So after all the advice on here i started taking Ted to behaviour/agility classes. I have been practising over all the cross country jumps at the yard and he is like a pro so i have been putting it all into practice at class and he has proved to be a total natural. He has now finally gotten over the excitement of all the other dogs around and rather than sodding off to the nearest dog that'll let him hump them he listens to me its a miracle - these dog training folk really know a thing or 2! The trainer soon got the harness off of him (i thought i was being kind - evidently not as he could drag against it to his hearts content) so she swapped it for a correction collar? think thats right and using it to correct him has been a revelation.
So after the class finished last night and Ted behaved with the most incredible control & manners i have ever seen from him the instructor asked if i wanted to join the advanced agility class....eeek im so excited mainly because i am such a dog numpty newbie and little 1 year old Ted is just so amazing - i can literally point him and say what i want him to do and low and behold he does it at lightning speed - so proud of him - fingers crossed for sundays class hopefully the added excitement of doing it at such speed wont compromise his behaviour - so expect a report of either its all gone to pot or hes up with the big boys sunday afternoon!
