I will be having Daisy-Mae come home in september and am hoping to breed of her later on. I was thinking at about 5 i would put her with a stud for her first foal...do you think this would be the right thing to do???

Think you'd need to wait and see how she grows up first - 5 yrs is a long time!

Lovely foalie, but ditto what was said above...think you had better see how she grows, as 5 years is a long time and you may change your mind several times before then....
She looks lovely. Very possibly homozygote with those white feet. You have world as your oyster as regards choice of stallions as she has the potential to throw you lots of colour. Therefore it opens your choice of stallion to some top quality solid coloured performance horses.
I find it very interesting the ages different people feel they would like to first breed their mare. At 5 yrs old, one mare of mine was expecting her 4th foal. She foaled at 3 yrs, 4 yrs at 5 yrs and I covered her again on foal heat. She'd had 8 foals by her 10th birthday. The mare enjoyed light work and life to the full at the time. She is now residing in Czech republic jumping 1.20m. It is a personal choice, and I firmly believe if the mare is not mature enough, she will either not cycle properly or not become pregnant. She knows best.
