It's like brand new, I'm really pleased with it, the seller on ebay did say it was in excellant condition and it certainly is.

The Barefoot London pad is also very nice too compaired to the other shim pad I used/borrowed back when I tried the DT saddle, it has the softer shims inside but also has a wider spine/gullet down the centre and has a proper split at the top near the withers and soft fluffy wool on the underside.

It's the right size for me too, I had vissions of it perhaps being a little on the small size or on the other hand looking rather large on him (as treeless saddles sometimes do) because with never actually seeing one before I wasn't too sure on what to expect but I think it looks a good size on him.

The medium pommel that the saddle came with has is too narrow though, I can see how these saddles would suit a TB with either a medium or narrow pommel block in put it that way which is good to know as it will be a versitile saddle, anyway I ordered the wider one yesterday but that was before I'd seen the saddle, so I may of been better ordering the XW one actually or possibly the soft pommel.

I don't think the leather on the Barefoot is as nice quality as the DT saddle, but I think the leather on the Barefoot is that type that is more hard wearing as it has a slight grain in it, where as the DT was this beautiful smooth soft leather, also I think the wool on the underside of the DT was thicker too but there seems to be more structure/padding in base of the Barefoot to create a gullet rather than the bareback pad style of the DT.

I wasn't able to girth it up as I've not bought my girth yet, needed to measure up to see what size to get, one thing I did notice compaired to the DT saddle is that the length of the flap is longer (which is nice in a way) but then the length of the straps (16'') are longer which doesn't give you much room for your girth, baring in mind if you select the right size girth (so it comes above the elbow) there is not much room for tightening up, so I'm a bit unsure what size dressage girth to go for to be honest, I measured up a 30'' but will I have enough wholes to go up to make sure it's tighten enough or do I play it save and get a 28'', hmmmm I duno , for a nice leather swung girth there not cheap so I don't want to get it wrong, also the saddle will squash down once a rider is board so again the straps will drop lower than on the picture shown.

But until I get the pommel sorted and the girth and ride in it I won't know how well it fits or suits us, fingers crossed it will be fine though.

Mackenzie was more interested in the bubble wrap that the saddle was packaged up with:rolleyes::D

Kenzo, I have been following your treeless posts and really hope this one fits for you. Saddles are a blooming nightmare! Bet you can't wait to ride in it :)

Thank you larab, let's hope so, I'll be pretty gutted if it doesn't, yep looking forward to trying it out but it looks like that won't be until sometime next week, stick to my bareback riding for now :D

Ooohhhhh
Fingers crossed it suits you both once you get the girth and everything (sorry no help, Im clueless with girths and things, especially dressage ones lol)
pretty please let me have a go :P lol only kidding, looks good :D

You're always welcome to come down if you fancied a ride out again, then you could have a try on both Mack and the treeless...double whammy! :D

Really hope it fits when you get it all girthed up. Saddles are a nightmare! It looks really comfy tho.

When you're sorted I'll have to come pick you up and we'll head over to RG's. She said she's got lovely hacking!

Off topic...Have you still got Meriad? (sorry if that's the wrong name/spelling)

Yeah that will be great.

Yep still got little merry legs Miraed.

Does look comfortable, I hope it beds down though when I'm on board, me standing next to him with that saddle on, made me feel like a little jockey, he's only a small horse and I'm not exactly a midget but the saddle was in the sky, I'll be riding with my head in the clouds if I'm not careful! lol:D

yayy no more struggles to mount bareback lol :) i too have seen afew of your posts, i hope this saddle works out!! lovellllly horse btw :D x

no more bareback mouting issues, just treeless ones instead lol
as you can't really mount from the ground with treeless saddles (well depends on the saddle), but I always use a mounting block anyway as we have one in the car park and in the school but there will be ocassions when I'm out when I'll need to get on board from the ground...not sure what I'll do there

Thanks, he's my babe, I love him to bits. :)

I can't get on easily from the ground either (15.3/16hh m/w coloured!), if I do have to get off for a gate then I use that or a fence to help me scramble back on!

I can see it now, me scrambling around on someone's garden wall while Mackenzie is busy chomping on the marigolds and end up falling ar*e over t*t into someones rose bush!

:D...nice, can't wait!

:D must admit I had to get off for a gate last weekend (one of those pesky low catch ones) and the gate had sheep fencing up to about half way.. cue me doing some bizarre leap with one foot on to gate whist simultaneously twisting to put other foot in stirrup, in mean time hairy decided he was bored of waiting and wandered off with me in mid-air! Landed on back of saddle where sticky jods stuck to sticky seat saver and had to do some ungainly shuffling back to normal position! Lady I was with did a good job of hiding her smirk (only because pretty much same thing happened to her week before when we were out!) :D

Haa :D oh the joys!

Might need to buy one of those portable plastic stirrup thingys (sorry can't remember the name of them) to bob in my pocket just incase as the leathers that came with the saddle (Barefoot ones) seem pretty shortish.

Either that a rope step ladder :D

:D that sounds fun to me :)
We had a good ol' natter last time Lol

That would be soooo much fun :D Our hacking is fab, could do a couple of hours along the canal (when Roos got a bit of fitness up lol)
