My beautiful ex-racehorse, progress update! :D (video)

Hi everyone,

Another update on Anna..my ex-racer.
I've had her for 3 weeks now, and last night was the first time we've had a nice slow trot..or at least slow for her.
She started off going as fast as she could whenever I got on..and the past couple of rides, I could tell she was learning to steady up a bit..and then last night...it's like the penny has finally dropped. As soon as I asked for trot, off she went..slow and steady, and at one point I thought we were going to stop! Lol. Please view and comment/subscribe if you like it :D

Thank you again in advance!

My horses name is Pinewood Lad. If you go to racing post website they have list of all races they have done etc or you can get a record printed and framed from weatherbys. I got my boys one from weatherbys and have been able to contact the person who bought him to race in 1990. Lovely to here so much about him as my cob I will never know anything about.

Given that your hose is only 3 Whoopit I am guessing he was a flat racer? Not many flat racers do any trot work once they have been broken in and they will almost certainly have never had to trot in any semblance of outline - they will have just been told to trot and get on with it.

This is my lad on his first time ridden out of training - 3 days after leaving the yard.

Ta! It's a shame he is currently broken! Silly big Hocamaffe! I will have to get someone to do a video of my new lad in a little while as he was sat on for the first time today but will only be walking for the next 3-4 weeks due to injury. If you liked Jeff, you will like Laurel even more but in a different way! Jeff's tall and elegant (when not doing his camel impression!) whereas Laurel is only 16hh, thicker set and shorter of body. I should start a diary of his re-training I suppose.

It's his colour I like particularly, I love chesnuts (so I bought a black one LOL) why is he broken? I'm on walk hacks for the next month LOL

He has put a big hole in his ddft and Jeff being Jeff doesn't do things by half! It's not your bog standard tendon injury - it's on a hind leg, going round the fetlock and isn't a core lesion - oh no! That would be easy! He has taken out 50% of the tendon from the side and the tendon sheath with it! All I can say is that I am so glad he was wearing boots in the field as it looks as though he has kicked into it and blown the hole.

My new lad is a very, very dark bay with a white blaze and one white sock so he stands out but isn't totally in your face. He is on route back from a 5% core lesion in his front leg so he is easy to fix lol!

TB's! Who'd have'em!
