My OH took the dogs for a long walk this morning and my girl was her usual, happy bouncy self. They were both fine when they got home and lay down contented from their walk. She got up about 10 mins later and asked to go out in the garden so OH let her out she had a very runny poo then lay down and wouldn't get up again and within 20 mins she was dead. I cant think that it could have been anything but poisoning and we thought about a post mortem to confirm but it wouldn't change anything. I cant stop crying that my amazing dog of a lifetime has gone when she was only 5 and I feel so guilty that I look at our new boy and cant stop thinking "why her" obviously I dont want anything to happen to him I am just so angry and upset.
 
What a dreadful thing to happen. My heartfelt condolences. Generally and with just about all poisons, dogs go into a convulsive state, and if that didn't happen, and if she appeared to "fail", then I would guess at major organ failure.

I'm really sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but please try to not feel guilty over how you feel, I think that it is quite normal to think such things in your situation.

How absolutely devastating for you. I am so sorry to read this and my heart goes out to you. Agree with I think CT...do not feel guilty for anything you feel, it is perfectly natural. I do agree that it doesn't sound like poisoning, but whatever, you have lost your beloved girl and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Our animals are so very precious, losing them is just hell.
 
OMG what the most dreadful thing to happen, such a shock. I agree with Alec and Jinglesmells, it sounds much more likely to have been organ failure to be that quick. Have you told the breeder? Maybe your vet can offer some possible explanation without having to do a pm? I hope having another dog brings you some comfort, don't feel guilty, nothing to feel guilty about.
 
Very sad but from her point of view, a lovely way to go after a great walk and back home; far better than her struggling IMV but that still doesn't stop the shock and hurt for you, I'm so sorry.
I'm anaother to say it doesn't sound like poisoning as they usually ripple and twitch from nose to tail with that IME.
 
My deepest sympathies. I lost a beautiful boy quite suddenly (but nearly two years ago now) and it hurts like mad:( Still miss him now. Hugs to you.
