By now, you will all have heard me talk about Windsor (Killyleagh Beach Boy) who was a black labrador that we had. He was a wonderful stubborn old git. Ssadly PTS at the age of 12 nearly two years ago. I miss the big dog more than anything and I found some of these pictures so thought I'd scan them and share them with you all

The puppies in the last picture are one of the litters Windsor and Tina had, the big head you can see in the corner of the picture is my Tina

These puppies have turned out into lovely dogs and almost all of them are in working homes.

What a fabulous looking dog Windsor was and dare I say it, he is remarkably like Toby - what were his bloodlines?

Don't you just feel so proud that you gave your dog the life that he was bred for - I suspect he couldn't have been any happier

Blimey, a dog like that could almost (;)) convert me to Labs!

He is a corker! I have a similar dog (although a springer, and sadly he wasn't into bitches so we never got a litter) who was put down a couple of years ago at the age of 11. He was the best dog in the world, although had a mouth like a bear trap (down to too many dummies as a pup) so wasn't often allowed to retrieve!

I don't have a clue where his papers are I'm afriad, lost in my uncles house so don't know them as I never had the chance to study them as I've only really got into lab breeding in the past few years

He was a real proper lab, the pictures really don't do him justice. He had an amazing deep chest and the lovely square head.

He really did thrive on work. He was PTS in January and yet was out in the Oct/Nov before then being allowed to do very few really easy retrieves as it kept him so happy. In the end his hips went and it was kindest for him to PTS.

You would have loved him Henmeister, he was a beast.

He *did* have a really soft mouth, could carry an uncooked egg but then one day he retrieved a bird, it was still alive and pecked him in the eye. After that, his mouth was never quite as soft as he clamped down to make sure they were dead

I "think" that could have been Midgey's problem too! He used to carry around raw eggs when he was a young lad.

My Dad was always convinced it was his fault, as Midge was bought as a pet really, and my Dad just played Gundogs with him, then he got to be one but couldn't retrieve much as it would come back ready plucked!

This is Squidgey Dog

ETS - Otto is a very similar stamp to Midge, except Otto has the legs Midge should of had, and moves a dam sight quicker! Midge had little stumpy wonky legs! If Otto becomes half the dog Midge was I will be chuffed to bits!

Squidy Dog - looks glorious. I am sometimes worried that Flyn has chomped on a bird and have often asked the Gamekeeper to check the birds for wholeness - fortunately he says all the birds are fine, but sometimes I wonder if he is being polite

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread GinaB

He was a star, soft as butter, I would have trusted that dog with a newborn! You knew if grumbled or barked something was definately up. He was as laid back as they come. I used to do scurries with him and he would rocket out, then saunter back, lift his leg, look around at his adoring crowd

Although we did win the CLA junior handler scurry once

He was really just my best friend!

lovely looking lab. so much nicer that the big fat lumps you see around all the time. is that because he is of working lines or just the exercise he gets?

Did you keep any of the puppies?

Windsor was such a stunning boy - what I call a proper lab too
smile.gif
I think I've said it before but he is the spit of my old boy Henry even down to the wise, loyal look in his eyes,, handsome
laugh.gif

Im no lab fan....but I do love his look and squareness .......we had a rescue from the bred from the queens gun dogs, he had a heart defect......hence how we ended up with stock (if there is such a thing) I was much younger, but remember him coming via a police officer, not sure how all that happened, but remember my mam babbling on about summit
grin.gif
...he was the living image of Windsor.
