on Thursday last week I took Ron, my sister and Tom, and OH and the dog to the beach for a bit of a blast.

Ron left the trailer like a donkey and was brilliant until I asked him to trot. At which point he threw his head about and did a couple of silly little hops and then tore off in flat out gallop. We allowed them to gallop for a little way then when he'd tired a little they were happy to come back to a nice canter and then a steady trot.

OH ran along the beach (clocking up 5 and a half miles) before getting the dog and the camera out!

The link is FB photo album.... hopefully TFC won't move this one!! ;)

Fab pics...your horses are gorgeous and look like a lot of fun. Which beach was this and what time of year can you go on it? I have only ever ridden on the beach when at uni in Wales and from a riding school, I have never taken my own horses but would love to.

Like! Like! I know which beach that is. I haven't been there but sure I will some time soon! You can blast for miles there.

This made me LOL - once again our horses are so similar this is Dyl's classic trick!!! "Oh yeah I'm well chilled today mum...HA gotcha no I'm not" vroommm!

Fab pics, absolutely love Ron, in his summer flares (i.e. feathers lol), and check out his hock action he's absolutely gorgeous.

Looks like you had a fab day and can't think of any better way to spend a birthday!! Thanks for pics xxx

this is Redcar beach, on the north east coast. It's open all year (though int' summer you have to pay for parking), and it's a lovely firm beach with no soggy bits!

OH informs me that going north from the car park it is 2.7 miles to North Gare.... so yes, miles and miles! :D

That is his favourite trick unfortunately, and one which he's very good at!

I've actually just shaved his feathers off so that he's nice and tidy for OH to event him!

Looks like you all had a fab time. :D What a lovely beach you have to ride on I wish we had one like that down here. The only nice one you have to pay to go on and it's a ferry ride away :(

Lovely pictures :D Particularly like the last few with the head shots back at the lorry :D :D

Would love to do a beach ride but being in the Midlands it ain't so easy :p

Can't access facebook links so can't see the pics but it sounds like you had a great day, happy belated birthday wishes!

Gorgeous photos! I too love the photos of the pair of them tied up by the trailer. The close up of Tom tacked up, ears forward is exquisite. It looked like you all had a ball – what a great way to celebrate your b’day!
