Oh i forgot to mention , her back , teeth , saddle etc have all been chekd and are all ok
smile.gif
and as soon as you get back on she is good as gold no probs atall

A previous 4 yo used to buck when I got on before I was barely in the saddle, & it turned out to be the saddle (2 master saddlers later...)

Then he also used to buck just cos he was a little s**t, so I used to lunge him hard & then ride when he'd settled.

Thats fear/and or worry. Who backed her?

She was backed by a good friend of mine with experience with problem , naughty horses . the problem is she doesnt do this is you mount outside of the school

.
and she has only recently started doing this , last week or so ?

That still seems to be a scared/worried reaction to me though. IF you know she is going to do it, treat her like a just backed 3yr old. Have someone at her head with a lunge line attached to her bit. Dont hold onto her, as this can make horses go up, but just be there if she tries to spin/run away. When did this start happening? Had anyone wacked her in the mouth when getting her, maybe to make her stand, or land heavily on her back?!

Shes lunged for 15 mins before I or anyone else gets on , is that long enough or should she be lunged longer ?

Can;t tell from cmaera angle, but is she panicking re the space between the block and the fence?
The paddling action of all four legs looks most odd,as soon as the rider is on.

What happens if block is in the middle of the school, andn someone holds her for the rider and then they walk her forward.
Does she alwasy do this at this postion,- or was it just coincidence you were filming?
Any back or tack issues?

This is the problem , atm I havent got time to ride her 6 days a week so she is ridden for me ( by lady in video ) 3 days a week and this seems to be when shes started being a nightmare but the rider is a very competent quite rider so I don't want to blame her ?

Yes a purpose built mounting block outside , but today she was lunged first so Jade decieded to get on in school from the poly block .

Just she got her quite heavily. I would personally go back to basics, getting on her, walking her on in a straight line, patting her and getting off, to start with with someone holding her on lunge. I had to reback my horse practically as he had never had anyone get on him using the stirrups before, the guy who backed him (very well I have to say!) was very good at just vaulting on. Is the block a different height when not in the school?

perhps she is tightening the girth more than you?
Perhpsa she sue the block in a confined space?
The mare is not evil-
she is upset by something whihc has triggered this reaction.
Listen to her
Woudl it matter if she was left out at grass for 3 days a week instead of being ridden?
Double check tack and mount elsehere, something is upsetting the mare.

I did think this a first it was the space between , I told Jade and she said that theyve been doing this so she can't swing her bum round as soon as rider mounted or swinging quarters whilst mounting because worried she would rear etc whilst half way getting on

is she the...

Rider wanted to school lovely 4yo ISH mare, Wick , Vale of Glamorgan Area ???

lmao if it is.
Anyway good luck, looks dodgy, dont get hurt

Video link shows unavailable!
Sorry you are having problems , is your siggie notice about this horse , not quite lovely at the moment , by the sound of it.
Can you go back to leaning across and doing things very slowly and gently and maybe giving her a polo to get her happy to take that initial weight [ if it is when mounting]
Maybe send her back to friend who backed her

She's going back tomorow , friend very worried as totaly out of character for Sol , i'm now thinking about it more worried about what has upset her this much to do this than her throwing people off ( sorry to say ) Shes never done this with me and hadnt with my friend , so concerned to whats happened in the last week to send her nutty

QR - what is the block doing there? Did the rider mount from that?

I would go back to basics have somone hold the horse, and leg the rider on leaning over as if you are backing her again, only mounting when she seems relaxed.
She looks scared to me , either of the confined space or something else or pain,
I'd try another rider if it was my horse.

I can't get on my horse on a surface. I couldn't ride it for months because everytime I tried to get on it was in the school and she would just plunge, leap and p*ss off as I was half on - I never stood a chance at staying on. My horse's amazing re-hab bloke taught me that I must never get on in the school, always on concrete in an enclosed area, then ride her into the school. OK its not normal but its made for a less traumatised horse and less trips to A & E for me. I'd just get on in the yard if your horse is happy with that, then maybe address the mounting in the school at a much later date.

IMHO this has caused the problem they were trying to avoid.
Just have someone alongside at the main mointing block.
If worried about using normal block set up, perhaps not experinced enough for this job.

Lean over, swing leg over slowly, sit uo, ut feet in stiurrps , helper walks horse forward when horse is asked to walk on.

Can't watch the vid for some reason, but obviously seen pic, and read replies.
Is there a reason why you need to ride a four year old 6 times a week??
I had a bit of a problem with Max after about 4 months of owning him.... the saddle he came with fitted at the time, but as he gained condition, it started to pinch, and he started to object. He would leap and plunge when mounted. He was a sensible 14 year old, but not a happy one. Changed saddle and problem disappeared again.
Could be any number of things, but don't think she's mental, just not happy about something. You need to find out what and why.

Managed to get video working and she is worried before the mounting ,her ears are back and the rider lands heavily at the back of the saddle, the horse is pulled off balance as soon as she starts to mount. If she is only recently backed she will need someone holding the offside rein and stirrup to help her keep her balance and a rider that mounts much more sympathetically

Does she only do this with the other rider, not you?

My horse was very much a one person horse. When he was broken, the last thing the person who broke him said to me was get as many people to sit on him as possible.

This wasn't possible as he just bronced everybody off ... not many people were prepared to try
smirk.gif
. If I got straight on after one of his "do's", he was as good as gold.

Thankfully he has grown out of such shennanigans.

I just watched the video again, she isn't an evil bitch that is one scared horse... the rider jabs her toe in her side getting on and thumps down plus as she is getting on the horse is shifting her front feet and lowering her withers, she is either in pain or has been walloped for not standing still
