My bloody horse is mental

Errrr, get a better rider who is sensitive to young horses? Give a leg up to get on and walk off slowly but purpossfully.

Glad she is ging back to original backer.
If she is 4, she will be only jst 4, so very much a baby
Take it slowly, turn her out to chill out.
WHen she comes back, can your backer friend come and help you once a week perhps, then ride her alternate days and take it slowly.

p.s
Can you change the title to my poor horse is upset - instead of b horse is mental?

Do you know what the other rider has done when you are not there?

I ring and text her to see how she is but Sol is also on Full Livery with Jade (rider ) as the top yard's YM so I cant be there to see her being ridden.

I'm sorry but if the mare hadn't done anything before the other rider (Jade?) started to ride her I would blame the new rider, and stop her riding her before you have an unrideable horse

she is one stunning horse
Do you have a good instructor?

Just watched the video, sorry but your horse looks terrified.
She looks as though she has had a BAD fright at some point , either hit or hurt in some way- you can see her anticipating it as the rider is about mount, she looks desperate to get out of this space, maybe as she has been forced to stand there and laid into who knows but I'd be seeking another rider. She digs her toe into her side then lands heaving too far back in the saddle.

I would also consider turning the horse away for a couple of weeks then starting again - this level of panic is dangerous you need to chill her out and get her calm and trusting again

just echoing what is said above really.

Your horse is definately scared and upset by the rider getting on. The rider seems ver heavy handed and "clumsy" i would suggest getting a better rider and starting from scratch

Found your video, as i watched it my daughter walked in, and without knowing what the post was about or reading anything said "she slammed herself down in the saddle"
The mare just seems to panic, it's fear not badness

Looking again, her feet are up on the banked surface, as the block is so close to the fence!!!!!!!!!
The horses demeanour and behaviour would stop me from even attmepting to mount in that situation as something is not right!

I ouwdl jsut tell her that horse is going back for schooling, and when Sol comes back, she will only be ridden by you
If she is on full lviery, that's all the time you have to find, and days off won't matter.

Agree with what others are saying about the rider and I would guess that this is a common thing with this rider, your mare appeared to anticipate that she would slam on to her back. I would echo change the rider.

I know shes not evil , i was just rather gutted that she'd been norty when vid was made . What frustrates me is that I understand why she doesnt do it with me surely if it was fright she'd be scared if it was me , jade or anyone elses getting on :S ??

No, she is not naughty, otherwise she would do it with you

And hopefully, if you saw her like she was before she mounted, you'd walk her away, walk her round, calm her down, have someone hold ther stirrup and not squash her agaisnt the fence., and walk forwards with you a few paces once settled.
its the way she was positioned and mounted.
as sort of 'How NOT to mount a young horse' moment.

She is green and only just broken, yet being treated like an old hand- and my chap would not go by that PINK blcok on the banking at 14, far less 4.

Your horse knows you and your smell the same as she does with this rider.

Sus knows when his owner is riding him and plays up yet when i get on he is an angel and doesnt put a foot wrong.

Yes , thankyou all of you for making complete sense and calming me down ( all ready to sell her at 5 o'clock as thought I couldn't do right by her ) am going to stop ANYONE riding her without me there if anyone else rides her at all . Will just have to be ridden 2 / 3 times a week for a bit

You are doing the right thing, good luck with her

I can't see the vid either but the debate reinforces for me that seeing a video tells far more than someone's description of an issue..it allows the horse's view to be seen too. So I don't comment on "my horse is..." posts now without a vid as it may not be the whole story (!), just an observation not a dig ISH_Lover, hope you work things out with your mare.

Just watched it and agree with everyone - what a lovely horse, and yes, seems that she has been upset my this rider. Although I am sure the rider is capable enough, sometimes horses do get 'one person' whom they attach themselves to, and you will have to do most of the work on your own for a while. Keep having the lessons, and maybe get other people (who you would trust) lungeing her, so that they could build up a relationship with her in the coming months?
Liked the bebo vid of the loose schooling though - what a lovely jump, you look very surprised!

mayb she has too much energy??does she get turned out?? feed decreased?? could just b time of year(mare)! n will settle in time> I would lunge until felt horse submissive and relaxed before i/ne one got on, cant view utube link, but get good idea of severity from pic!

OOH thats a gd point , she's been on blue chip for a week now and that does tie in with craziness that could be contributing factor !

Sorry - haven't seen the video but from the replies it sounds like your horse is doing a similar thing to a horse I rode for an inexperienced friend when she inherited a 3yr old shire x. He was a lovely lump of a thing but it turned out he was a really sensitive lump!
My inexperienced friend was frightening him every time she mounted either because she jabbed him in the mouth or put a toe in his side. It took a while to get him to trust people to mount again and it needed two people there to hold him and hold the stirrup but he soon learned there was nothing to be frightened of and turned into a beautiful hunter!
Good luck with your horse, patience is the key!

whats the percentage to schooling to hacking out

[/ QUOTE ]

She is hacked out 3 times a week and then she goes in the school once or twice a week

My youngster has only been ridden by 4 people and thats including me in 18 months! and 1 of those rode him once and another 1 of those rode him twice, and thats it! I won't pass him round pillar to post. She's a stunning mare, you dont want to ruin her ISH lover. That person got on her way too hard, I dont know how long you have had her broken in for or anything but, no wonder she freaked out. Its not you're fault so don't beat yourself. I hope it works out for you both.
