Henna taken yesterday - So what do you think guys ? She is the most relaxed easy going creature ever despite her mum being a stress head - two more different horses you could not meet.
Thank you guys _ I did wonder if anyone would remember us.
She is now 15.2 so I don't expect her to grow that much more. tbh I have no idea but Mum is only 15hh and dad was said to be 15.2.
Yes she has such a huge mamouth coat - I have never seen anything like it. She does wear a light rug to keep the worst off her. And yes those white stockings are always murky looking
It's one of those how long is a piece of string moments as to what she will finish up at but it's fun to speculate - so from those who have more experience of growing on youngsters feel free to educate me what she may do over the next few years ?
Yes finances and lifestyle staying as is I intend to keep her and enjoy having such an easy genuine little mare. Her Mum has come from a chequered past and had so many hang ups it's a totally new experience to have a blank canvas. Henna does whatever you ask no questions. First time I laid a tarpaulin out she just led straight over it - I was gobsmacked!
Her full name is Seredipity Henna which just about sums her up .
She is lovely, I think she is about the same age as Piper - he was a May baby.
Love the markings and she does look like she will make up a bit, and chunk out as she is a gawky babe at the moment - not criticising, I own a gnu!
It is lovely when they are easy going, I'm so happy for you. When do you hope to back her?
I want to sit on her on her 3rd birthday - but I mean hop on and hop off literally.
I have been told to back her now lightly and then let her grow over the summer and bring into work next spring.
I have accustomed her to tack and basic voice commands but want to start leading her out in hand over next few weeks and then teach her to long rein.
I wondered if once she has been backed and used to traffic with me leading her if I could lead her off her Mum to get her out and seeing a bit of the world?
This is all a learning curve. Have read Richard Maxwell, Kelly Marks and some old Army chaps books to get an idea of the things others do. But would be good to hear what everyone else does?
I don't know if I'm game to do Piper pics, hes woolly, muddy, bum high and looks like a shetland x giraffe. May wait til spring - LOL!
I want to sit on him this year then turn him away until next, like you. Tomorrow I am leading him out next to my eldest on my horse to see if I can get to riding and leading. Luckily I can do it round the farm tracks so if I drop him he won't go anywhere!
Henna really is beautifully marked, you must be delighted.
She is stunning and ohhhh I envy u those legs! My baby turns 3 on 15th March and is a piebald.....with 4 white legs up to her armpits. NIghtmare to clean!!
She is so tall, she's bordering on 16.2 now and she was a late June baby so only just over 2 and a half!! She needs to fill out quite a lot before I can even think about starting her x
VickyJay - she is lovely. No white, how lucky are you! To be fair I only have a white star and heel to deal with.
Piper is a smidge over 17hh now, I think he will make 18hh but am desperately hoping I am wrong. I wanted a 15.2 - 16hh!
B5 - I will let you know tomorrow how it goes, the third old boy will have to be left alone at home and will no doubt cause havoc, as long as Piper doesn't worry about him we will be OK. I took him for walk yesterday and he chewed the hedgecutter, walked past the bonfire and over the old haylage bags in the barn so he is pretty easy going.
Trust me if you saw a pic of P today you would not think he wasn't scruffy! He is wild horse of Borneo. I will take a pic of him soon.
Yes I bred him to be a keeper, God willing he has a home with me for life. Even if I do have to buy a bigger trailer, all new rugs etc., etc. (And a ladder).
