Never had this problem in 30 years!

I am on my 2nd pair of Toggi Calgarys... love how supportive they are and that they have a robust sole. However, every time I wear them by the time I take them off, the heels of my socks are in holes and it's now getting expensive! I have tried a heel raising support thingy but no help. My last pair didn't do this! Any ideas to stop this? Im wondering if its the inside of the zip rubbing.
Having just come back from a hack and having to bin a nice pair of new riding socks Im a bit fed up now!

Thanks in advance.
And cheers, it's Wine Wednesday!

I can’t help sorry but am very interested if anyone can.
I always have this problem! I usually wear cheap socks underneath my nice holey ones to try and make them last longer!
I also wear the lining out of my wellies (which makes them squeak!) ?

My first guess would be that it is something with the combination of the material on the inside of the new pair of Toggis, and the material in your socks, which have changed, and is causing the holes in your socks.
So in your shoes, I would look at the inside of the Toggis, and on what material/materials that is in your socks.

Also in your shoes, I would probably see if I could fix it with some DIY, perhaps buy a pair of fleece, or felted, insoles, cut them up so I instead got 2 parts which could be glued to the inside of the heel area of the Toggis, and see if that changed anything.

ETA I see that Fuzzy Furry's have replied while I was writing my reply. Her suggestion sounds easier to try than mine.

I have 3 pairs, in various stages of decrepitude, none of them have done this, so maybe it's something Toggi have changed in the last year? But then, I only ever wear cheap socks!

a few good ideas thank you!

Having had a good feel inside the boots Im sure its the inside of the zip, Im not sure I can put anything over that inside the boot without it moving but Im going to try a bit of vetwrap round my heel today!!!!

A lot of boots rub me, I think it's a case of my heels being too narrow so there's a lot of movement, I can't wear slingback shoes for a similar reason as the straps just fall off my feet. I don't buy nice socks as I'll wear through them in a day, I buy multipacks of mens heavyweight reinforced work boot socks as they're much stronger. The heel grips you stick inside shoes help a lot but they don't stay stuck for very long, similarly blister plasters on your feet help but you'd need to change them often. Heel raisers don't help at all for me, I need something that takes up a bit of room in the heel.

Funnily enough I've noticed recently that a lot of my socks have been wearing through at the heels a lot more than usual - not in one go like you but definitely far more quickly than normal and I only wear them to ride in. I put it down to a rubbish last lot of socks (I normally get a load from my mum for Christmas and she loves a bargain so they'll have been very cheap) but I too have a relatively new pair of Toggi Calgary boots! I would have thought I'd have had blisters though if the boot rubs enough to put holes in socks as I get blisters very easily.
