Spider can go beautifully on the flat and is not a big fan of jumping so we've been thinking for a while that dressage may be the way to go with him once we've got his topline built up properly.
Yesterday he proved it - we've just moved yards and are getting the hang of hacking out on our own as we have lots of great hacking around us. He's doing great except when he sees other horses and can't join them. So yesterday when seven horses went past and we couldn't make friends with them as they were crossing the track we were going down he proceeded to do the most amazing half pass I have ever seen for the next half mile. I was torn between irration that he was being such a nuisance and being quietly impressed at the quality of his lateral movement
So, no more excuses Spider, you clearly are cut out to do dressage
Now, if we can just do that on demand rather than because you're a pain in the arse, that would be grand...
