Can anyone help,my 14.2 went lame last july he was xrayed and nerve blocked but all was fine,it took him 6months to come right with pads and gel in his feet,he wasnt lami and my farrier said he had good feet,he's not over weight and only hacks and goes to local shows,so he isnt over worked, his back was checked and all fine there, but somtimes when i ride him now he dosnt always feel right, pottery is the word id use.it all seems a little odd to me,has anyone else had this with there horse?

Frustrating isn't it? You know your horse and if you say its not right, its not. Don't let your vets fob you off if you still feel your horse is in pain. Are you insured? If you are you should push your vets for a referral to an equine hospital that specialises in lameness investigations.

90% of lameness's are in the foot - FACT when you say that he was x-rayed, what of? were his feet x-rayed to see where his pedal bones lie, even though some horses look as though they have super shaped feet when you come to xray it tells a different story. If the pedal bones are too horizontal it puts strain on the ligaments, tendons and joints. Its worth having him x-rayed to see what his foot shape is truely like inside his hoof then the farrier can trim back using the xrays to see exactly how much he can take off the toe and help lift the heels. When a horse feels pottery it is usually in the feet.

Thanks, they took x rays of his feet in just about way they could,my farrier saw them and did shoe him going on the x rays,he did take alot off his toes so much so that it made him look like he was a lami case! He has digital suport pads and gel with wide web shoes, the next step if i want would be a m.i.r scan as all they can put it down to is soft tissue damage which dosnt show on x rays!!! he is insured but id have to pay half as so many people are now having them done they wont pay out anymore,he is only 9years old so he's not old!!!

Yes thanks for that,i think i will just to rule things out really,he's such a lovely boy,its just a shame when i get on i never know what to expect.I would put a pic on but not worked that out yet
