I have made the decision to have my boy put to sleep. He has not improved and while he is still eating, he is very thin and is unsteady on his feet and it's only a matter of time before he can't keep on going.
I have done everything I can, and he has fought the whole way, but he can't keep it up, and I would rather he went before he collapsed or stopped eating or the light went out of his eye.
If all goes as it should he will be PTS on tuesday, so I am spending my last days with him stuffing him with as many carrots and extra stong mints as he will eat.
I will miss him terribly, but am so greatful to him for all that he has taught me, he's my handsome boy x x

Aw sorry to hear this

I'm sure you're doing the right thing for him, but so hard for you. After a while, you'll remember the all good times more than the sad times. Be strong for him and take care of yourself.

Ruth I'm so sorry. Its a horrible time and I do have some idea about what you're going through. You're a great Mum, enjoy your time with him.

Don't know of his history but it is a brave thoughtful decision to make. When I lost my mare, albeit suddenly, I still take comfort that as her owner it was my last responsibility to her to make. I know it doesn't make it any easier, nothing does but I take comfort from the fact that I know I did the right thing. Sending you lots of hugs, be strong xxx
