My boy is gone

Please stop blaming yourself.

I had my own grey Welshie (28) put to sleep after 2 mild colics as the vet suspected a tumour and was concerned the next colic would be more serious. At a similar age, I also know of 2 bays in their late 20's who suffered severe colics and a stomach tumour was also mentioned in both cases.

I'm guessing the timing of this colic was purely coincidental.

Big hugs

Cayla, I'm crying for you here. I'm so so sorry. Please don't blame yourself, I am sure it wasn't down to the change of feed alone.

He sounds like a wonderful (if difficult) character and was so very lucky to have you.

Take care hun xxxx

Cayla, I am so very sorry. I know of 3 oldies who were taken by colic, and nothing in their diet had changed. I do wonder if as they are older, they are just more susceptible. Treasure your memories of him, and don't blame yourself.

(((Hugs))). RIP Morgan

I am so sorry to hear this! R.I.P. Morgan - he was lucky to be so well loved all his life and it sounds like he was a wonderful, cheeky character!

Don't beat yourself up! There are many, many different causes for colic, there is no way you will know what caused it. He was an older pony and unfortunately these things happen.

Cuddle a doggie...

Oh hun so sorry to hear your news,

please dont beat yourself up colic can happen whenever it doesnt have to be cos you changed diet...my boy also went down with colic...nothing changed...I totally understand how you feel sweet and be assured that Morgan is now running up in Rainbow Bridge pain free and will be waiting for you....remember all the great times you had together and what a lucky pony to have such a loving caring owner that you were to him..

Please take care and rest the pain will ease I promise

Big hugs to you

(((((hugs)))))) So sorry to read this. As others have said, don't blame yourself. You gave him a happy and wonderful life, what a lucky pony to have been loved so much. Take care x

QR so so sorry to be reading this, I read your last post and was hoping for much better news this morning.
You gave him a happy and wonderful life, remember the joy he brought to you, your memories will never be taken away.

Huge hugs.

RIP Morgan x

Mega (((hugs))) CAYLA and I'm as sure as I can be this was nothing whatsoever to do with the feed change - colic is the nightmare ending we all fear and particularly the older horse or pony. It is extremely common as they age and for no apparent reason, their digestive system just fails

I have said goodbye three times this year and Lord knows how I have carried on after the heartbreaking losses - none of them the same and only one of them on my terms. It's a terrible price we pay for loving them so much and having the pleasure of their company. They are all so special and we all feel your pain. Crying is a good way to start the healing - bawl as long and loud as you like.

Sleep tight Morgan.

Thankyou for all your thoughts......I feel so numb I cannot eat or sleep properly and I cannot stop crying I feel like curling up in a ball and never getting up, I really do feel Im to blame and it makes me feel sick to my stomach
Im grateful I got to cuddle him as he fell asleep and it very very quick, thanx to my mam and the vet, I certainly did not help with my hysterics, having to leave the stable until he was all prepped to go then I composed myself to be with him when he went.....I would never wish this on anyone, it's so unfair

Im grateful he is no longer in pain, and so grateful I kept checking him, I could not bare the thought of him being alone like like a minute longer than he had to be

R.i.p little man............you where indeed one of a kind x

Thanx everyone x

So sorry for you, but please don't blame yourself, It's a very common way for aged horses to go, without any warning.
RIP, Morgan, and hugs to you.
