After a rather annoyed mum (me) on Friday night with my boys fighting over a bone and taking lumps out of eachother, I had my faith restored on Sunday with a really successful walk out with a friend and her rescue. Her wee dog is a x-lurcher type with some socialisation issues. Poor dog had been thru some 10 homes in 4 years before landing with my pal who is keen on her behaviour work.
My own BT has had some issues with strange dogs but since he regularly gets beaten up by my poodle
he no longer feels the need to have a go at strange dogs. So even with the lurcher bitch bouncing and barking in my boys' faces they just calmly went for their walk without so much as a worried glance. The poodle had a few "ah ah's" off me when he looked like he might wind her up more, but then quickly retreated to my side.
But the BT to me was the best as it really is a big ask of him to ignore a dog who is looking like they're spoiling for a fight. It's only taken ten years...
