So despite of all the excitement of Badminton I went off to Towerlands for the Area 40 BSJA show.
First class 1m scope qualifier - Bane warmed up a little lethargic and started off in the class a little spooky and flat - went clear in 1st phase but decided not to chance the possible tight turn in the 2nd phase so rode for a nice double clear
. Was a little gutted as came 7th (knocked out by last rider!!) so just missed out on qualifying
2nd class - 1.05m qualifier. Bane warmed up a bit better then went into the ring and decided we were on a Sunday afternoon hack and took out fence 1 and 3
I gave him a couple of whack up slaps, got a bit more determined in my riding and we jumped the rest thing.
I had been wanting to do a Newcomers for ages but was talking myself out of it so I decided to brave it and entered for the 1.10m open (in the same ring). Spend time sharpening him up in the warm up and then entered first (very nervously!!!). Rode a bit hesitantly to start with (which doesn't help my nervous boy!) and we had Fence 2 (let him get too long) and Fence 4 down but wow by the last double and then the last line of 3 (one stride double to a related 3 stride spread) he flew
Cue lots of pats and polos and a huge psychological barrier lifted in my mind
Am so pleased we did our first 1.10m and he jumped it so well (when numpty rider got her brain in gear!!). And got my first Disco double clear too
