My daughter came running in and said she couldn't wake the cat up.

I checked her and she was breathing but unconscious and couldn't be woken. Her mouth was twitching slightly as was a front leg but nothing major.

2 minutes later she woke up and was perfectly fine albeit a bit cross that we were all staring at her. Obviously OH is calling the vet, but wondered if anyone has witnessed anything similar? I genuinely thought she might be on the way out!

Willow (cat) is 18 but sprightly and perfectly healthy.

We had this with our cat 3 yrs ago when she was 15. Very deep sleep/unresponsive in the morning. I was ready to call the vets. Observed her for a hour and she came round slowly. Not happened since.

How is her hearing? I am just thinking that many of the elderly pets I have had, start to become quite deaf as they age.

Otherwise, there are probably quite a few different causes that a vet could test for. I hope you get some answers soon.

I dunno. I've a dog who sleeps very deep. Like I can shake her and she won't wake up. If this cats hearing isn't great, which wouldn't be unusual in such an old animal, then it just sounds like deep sleep.
