Poor Tigga the tabby had to be pts this morning. He had renal failure and hadnt eaten for 4 days. Only drinking, and even then he brought that back up. He lost so much weight and looked so miserable. But doesnt make it any easier. Poor chap - it's awful to have to make the decision, and even tho you know it's the right one, I hated taking him.

And to top it off, the bloody car wouldnt start this morning.

Happy New Year eh?!

So sad.

RIP Tigga

RIP Tigga.

You did make the right decision, but you have every reason to shed a few tears. I had to have one of my cats put to sleep a couple of years ago for very similar reasons (renal failure), there were many tears, but we knew it was the right decision. Our moggies give us so much love, and the best thing we can do for them is to put a stop to any suffering at the endl

Thinking of you.

So sad for you. Renal failure is horrible. I lost my last Burmese cat to this problem just before christmas - once they go downhill putting to sleep is the kindest things.

I am very sorry your year has started off this way. I know how you feel as I have been through similar 18 months ago.
At least you know you did the right thing. Did you manage to stay with him while he was PTS I know not everyone can. If you didnt be very aware the vets and nurses to make it very calm and peaceful.

I couldnt stay with him when he was pts - but my friend is a senior vet nurse and she stayed with him, and she's lovely so I know he wont have felt anything but loved.

Big hugs for you, the same happened to mine, Sue, (in sig) at the begining of December. It's heartbreaking but you know it's the right decision and well done for being brave. In a few months time you will feel better knowing you did all you could. Tigga had a good life and an owner who had the courage to do the right thing.
If it's any comfort, try and get another one in a few months. I went and chose my new rescue kitties yesterday and OH chose one that looks a lot like Sue, plus another older one who's had a hard life. It's makes it a little easier to know that we did all we could and now want to give another couple of pussycats a chance at a good life.

It's so nice to have all your support - I really appreciate it. Came home tonight and house is very empty and my other cat - a normally very vocal Siamese - is looking lost without him.
