It was a mixed day good and bad.
We got lost getting there as Dad insisted it would be quicker to go the back route (it wasnt!)
Had 25 minutes to warm up for dressage (at the start of the season it was taking me an hour to settle him before dressage), did a pretty good test and got 35.2 (pippa funnel led on 27!)
Show jumping was a disaster, he stopped in the warm up and I fell off! he then stopped a few more times, picked up a whip and the next time he stopped I smacked him (he hates whips and being smacked) he didnt stop again but due to being smacked wouldnt settle so my SJ round was very hairy, Got 2 down which was due to my lack of control, but was please he got round!
Was a bit worried he had pulled something so warmed up for XC trying to feel if he was ok, he warmed up beautifully not a thought of stopping, decided to start XC and see how he felt. He flew out of start box and i managed to slow him down a bit, he felt great all the way round, after the 8th fence I decided he was fine so put my foot down again, he jumped the corner to the phesant feeder beautifully made it feel easy and the other combination i was worried about a large table to an equally wide but narraower table then 4 strides on a dog leg to a narrow tripple brush, he jumped this wonderfully, locked on to each element i just had to steer hin in the right direction. galloped flat out to the final fence and just slowed up before it, galloped over finish line he still had loads of petrol in the tank! So went clear taking all the direct routes and got 7.2 time faults (only Daisy Dick made time in my section!)
Walked him off took him back to lorry washed him off and let him have grass, got changed and put all my stuff then frankie away, got some lunch then checked score board, due to my fast XC time it looked like i may get in top 15 so waited a bit longer, I ended up 9th gaining another BE point (Frankie now has 2) so got my heighest Novice placing of the season.
So good result in the end, but have booked someone to come and check him over as it isnt like him to stop, I have withdrawn from Mount Ballan and he will now have a well deservered break! I will bring him back into work end Nov when Woody will come back into work (Nico will then be weaned!)
