Oh dear - I expected Shy to keep growing till eight - ish, but he has REALLY broadened and got longer over the last six months. I just didn't notice it until we have had a rug try-on fest

Very proud mum, but unfortunately I don't have use of a height measure at my yard. I haven't told hubs yet that new rugs (6 ft for a 14.2 +++ish) may be required :o

You never know, I may be out of pony squishing before too long ! Btw, he is a Dales x Gypsy cob.

REALLY ?? Wow, so he's not doing too bad then. Once Shy's finished I'll bet he'll be 6'2" - and there was me thinking he was a short backed boy.

Lol I can beat that, some of my cobs rugs are 6'3 - he's 13.2.... :eek3:

Can't decide if it's you or I who have the problem here.... My 17.3 also fits in some 6'3 rugs!

Don't worry op, I've just had to go up a whole 6inches in lightweight rug size this year......my horse is 13 years old!

My cobs best fitting rug is a bridleway rug, wonderful fit for him

Never heard of Bridleway rugs, will have a look. Here is the cob, only 15.1 but so deep and wide in the chest nothing fits her. Necks do not do up. She just squashes into a Shires rain sheet with shoulder gussets. So far she has fallen out of amigos, weatherbeaters and Saxons. Rugging her is like getting Dolly Parton into a 36b bra. The length is no problem 6'9".

I have a 14"2 a 15"2 and a 16"2 all in 6"3 rugs haha strange beasts!

Huh, some people are lucky, I have horses in 5'9, 6'0, 6'3, 6'6 and 6'9. Why they couldn't all be the same size I don't know, it would have made life so much cheaper!

My cob is 5yrs old, shes approx 15.1hh and in a 6ft3 rug. Shires, kingshead and fal-pro are all good rugs for her huge shoulders and chest. We cant get in any amigos!

My D is 3.5 yrs and gone from a 5'9 to a 6ft - 6ft3 over the summer! he has lots more growing to do judging by the size of his chunky legs!

Just read all the replies, many thanks guys - and told hubs Shy needs new rugs. There is a deafening Silence In The Room. I'll have to stop feeding Shy.
And Hubs too if he gets too stroppy. :D

Well I have a 14hh welsh sec d he's long in the back so 6' and a so called min cob he's 14hh but short in the back so 5'6", so will grow into the 5'9" that the welsh sec d has grown out off. :)

My 14.1hh welsh D takes a 6ft rug. He's got a huge neck and no chest. The only rugs that fit him are Horseware V neck ones, anything with a double strap, the top strap seems to strangle him, when he puts his head down : (
