I dont know if you reember a few weeks ago iwas feeling really down and was losing my confidence, well its gradually coming back...im sooo glad cos Hemir was picking up on it and spooking at everything and making it worse (its a vicious circle!)...but had a fab ride on him yesterday: heres the story!!! *just one bad thing when we got home!!*

soooooo sorry its a bit long!!

I took Hemir into the woods today to have a bit of fun....jumping and cantering and galloping and just fun stuff!!! But he has never ever jumped a log, or a ditch before....so we tried some new things today and he just popped then like he had been doing them his whole life *very proud mum*!!! The ditches were 1m wide (ish!) and quite deep....there are 3 in a row with 3 stides in between each ditch, he wasnt too shore about the first but after that he cantered them really well!!! H jumped the logs really well, they werent big but had all the tiny branches around them, it didnt phase him....I think i have the makings of an eventer....cooool!! We then tried some of th streams around us, he bucked, then rounded and then walked in calmely...we had a walk through, then a tot through, then we had a canter up the stream and back down again!! The only thing is I didnt realise before taking him in was the fact the water came up to his belly, bless him!!! After all this we had a FANTASTIC gallop through the trees....cant ask for a better hack, just had sooo much fun!!

Now for the bad stuff, and why the 'my poor boy'!! Well we arrived home and mum noticed that he hadlost his shoe...ok not too bad, will call farrier tomorrow, but then i noticed he was bleeding from just above his hoof....he wasnt in any pain, and let me touch it, clean it out..etc, but we think he may have overreached a little and cought it...so we are now investing in some overreach boots! We have got a smaller pair, so we put that on for in the field but when we put them on he lifted his lg up and looked at it like 'wtf is this mum, why do i have this funny black thing on my leg?!' then he walked into the field and turned round and looked t me and started shaking his leg, as if to try and get it off...it made me laugh so much...was funnier than it sounds!!! Then this evening i went to clean it out , and again he did exactly the same thing...shaking his leg around as if to say 'get this thing OFF!!', and silly be forgot to tie hime up properly but he just stood there whilst i cleaned it up, and spongd it so not to get an infection....my little superstar!!

sorry VERY self indulgent...

I feel much more confident wth him and he didnt tank off with me, so really pleased, i had full control, even when he bucked and reared it didnt bother me....THANKYOU to everyone that gave me the encouragement (sp) when i was feeling down, and that i couldnt ride....you really helped me, and i owe my confidence to you guys and my fabby superstar, that is a little nuts (he wouldnt be him if he wasn't!!!!!)

omg just read how long my post is im really sorry and now im making even longer....sorry!!!! I just want people to know how much i appreciate (sp) their help!!

ok will stop writing now (ps i copied the story form the CR...as it is a little long to re-write!!)

Well done, i know how you feel about getting confidence back - im working getting mine back jumping.

Its a very big thing that you did all those things and i think the fear is so very real and you did very well to just get on with it.

Never apologise for feeling good about what you have done
