Could be one of those old fashioned "one in a million" types who has amazing results ... or scarily negligent.

Anyone heard of him or know anything about him at all?

Never heard of him but all seems a bit... odd - not sure thats the right word, but the best i can come up with - i'd be interested to find out how he has fixed Laminitis!

Arthuritis? Is this suffering from Arthurs is some way?

'Terrible things, Arthurs. Cause all sorts of trouble they do'

dont knock the magic men. we use one called sam. aftr all othr routes ie vet dentist back people then we call sam. has fixed most things! including my elbows!!!!! just dont think too deep might be the last resort that works

I actually went and saw a demo of his some years ago. He wasn't "DR" then, just Romany Ray. He "performed" some sort of healing with lots of non-invasive pretend pulling out of bad spirits or something or other. TBH I was very underwhelmed - but then a fool and their money are soon parted.

LOL! I'm very unsurprised to read such a review.

As I say, no way would I let him near mine

If someone can't spell even simple common horse conditions, then I wouldn't let them supposedly (or should I say *pretend*) to treat them....

How funny that most the reviewers also have such awful spelling...

What a load of total bollox. Dr, my left elbow. Can't even spell his home county. And there's no such thing as a horse's hip being "out" and then "popped back in". In the interests of your horse's welfare, I'd recommend anyone interested in this sort of quackery to just stand in a corner and burn a couple of £20 notes instead. Results will be about the same.

Then ring your vet.

I quite agree, keep an open mind on these things! I always turn to my "magic man" before the vet...... I wonder how people think horses ever survived any trauma or illness before vets were practicing and chemical drugs produced! A lot of oldtime cures do work!

I hope you mean that you turn to your magic man before the vet ONLY in some minor circumstances, but if antibiotics or pain relief is needed I'd hope it would be the vet you call first.....

If people WANT to spend their hard earned cash on these people then fair enough as long as it isn't instead of seeking veterinary treatment, that is where these people become dangerous when animals are left suffering because of some unfounded belief in 'magic'!!

Actually I do mean before as I trust his judgement as to when a vet is necessary as much as my own. My "magicman" treats some very well known showjumpers and eventers who I would think know their stuff. My horse has a slightly twisted pelvis (he probably had something happen to him as a foal) which manifests itself as a slight stiffness to the right, plus his tail is always held to the left. Two different vets and two very reputable physios said they couldn't find anything yet my "magic man", whilst treating another horse on the yard, watched mine walk across the yard and called out "is he stiff to the right?", having no preconceptions of his problems. He treated him with his magnetic pulse thingy, did some massage and the difference was amazing. My horse is 17 now, has "treatment" twice a year, is generally a good all rounder but we mainly compete in elementary dressage.
Also, my Jack Russell was constantly at the vets with recurrent ear infections (cue £65 2/3 times a year), treated with anti b's and ear drops. Magic man said to buy a certain ointment from chemists, all of £6.00, clears it up just as quickly but with a huge cost saving.
I did have the vet out to a colicing horse, it was a grass colic which I have no experience of. Cue a £500 bill. The second time I called the vet out for the same problem he was a very disgruntled man, having just handed in his notice for what he felt was bad practice management. He didn't like being told to find out if owners had insurance and if they did to stick £100 on bill for whatever. Then he said that he could sell me some codeine for the horse for £38 or I could go to chemist and get them for a fiver. All the blood tests etc that he performed the first time were now unneccessary, and he had less IV drugs too. My bill was £230.
I'm not saying that I never call the vet out, I hope no-one thinks I ever neglect my horses, I'm not a novice horse owner and if I am ever asked by other owners for advice I always say to consult their vet as I have an over active (Catholic ha ha) conscience!

mainpower, your "magicman" sounds most intriguing and someone that would be useful to know, are you allowed to divulge who he is? (PM me if you prefer). I do like to keep an open mind on these things, hence my original post about Dr Ray Smith. I know nothing about him personally but have since had some very positive feedback, the jury's still out I guess ...

mmmm can't even spell arthritis!!!!

Never mind arthritis, he can't spell laminitis, azoturia or stiffness.
I would always go to a vet first, BUT if I were stuck and a 'magic man/woman' came highly recommended by someone known NOT to be an eejit, then I would give them a shot.

I particularly like the first review further down the page - "he treated my horse, and then my horse died"!!!

Absolute class - who would leave a review like that on their website???

OMG

I didn't see that! I'm sure that review wasn't there before as I would def have remembered it, must have just been put on. Who/why on earth would you have that as a testimonial on your website?!
