My 'Dangerous' Dog!!

In answer to your question he is a very well socialised dog and has been from a small puppy - he's never been attacked by another dog or even had any slightly negative experiences!

At around 5 months he started to be intolerant to excitable/dominant dogs and would snarl and lunge if they got too close. He was always fine with indifferent dogs though who didn't make any attempt to be friends with him.

He is now intolerant of most dogs, if they are within a certain distance of him. If they try to interact with him he will respond with aggression. He has maybe 2 dogs he will interact with, 1 of whom he will actively play with!

However having said all this he can safely be off lead around other dogs if I know they won't approach him as he does not actively seek out fights.

He will walk off lead to heel around other dogs also, if in safe conditions eg a training class

In my opinion if you buy a Stafford you must be prepared that they may not always want to be best mates with every fido and fluffy in the park.
Some, if you're lucky get on with all other dogs and love to play. Others will tolerate other dogs, but prefer their human company and wouldn't back down from a fight. Then there are the ones who dislike other dogs (like my lad) and some that actively hate all other dogs and will go out of their way to attack anything that crosses their path!

I did meet a lovely staffie at the weekend whilst at a local dog show and she was beautifully behaved, unlike the horrible Chihuahua type thing that tried to rip my dogs face off as it walked past us! I have got the impression from previous posts that staffies are more into people than other dogs hence the intolerence. i don't mean to generalise! Your boy is a stunning dog
