Worse thing is that we have a major snow storm here so driving is awful! But im going to throw him a teeny bit of hay in at 1 since he seemed starving when i just went and the vet said he's ok for hay.
His poo looked quite normal though and it was full pile (too much info really i know)
Hes done a few more poo's and had been on the horse walker and was walking out ok. Yesterday he kept threatening to lay down on there so theres a quite obvious improvement.
I let him loose in the indoor arena and he had a roll and a small play with me.
Hes banned from all hard feed for 5 days so hes getting more haylage (which makes me happy anyway since i think they get too much hard feed where i am). I left him happily munching on some carrots and apples as, to his delight, its vets orders that he has a decent amount of succulents.
In himself he seems bright and back to normal pretty much.
The guy working today is really good so im going to do a late night check on him and hopefully it was a one off thing. Its 24 hours now since he had the painkillers and was tubed, so im hoping that if he was going to start again, he would have by now.
Thanks to everyone for asking over him though. I was an absolute wreck yesterday as i lost a beautiful mare a few years ago to colic and the phone call about jack brought everything flooding back
Great news! I know how you feel, my horse is on box rest with a broken leg and I couldn't stop shaking for days after he was xrayed and they confirmed what was wrong! Hopefully the colic was a one off and he will be back to normal soon, fingers crossed for when you move hope it all goes well!!!
Just getting up the enthusiasm to go out in the blustery, cold, showery day to the yard to muck out yet again today! I know you were waiting for poos but I can't believe the amount one horse can do in one day when stabled!! you are welcome to some of mine! (well not mine you understand, ones from my horse...) Oh this is getting silly better stop now
So glad to hear he is getting to be back to his usual self.
I lost a love of my life to colic - totally out the blue, he'd always been fit and healthy even for an old boy, then I just got that dreaded phone call one morning
and a few hours later, with his head on my lap, we had to let him go
it broke my heart.
I am so so pleased that Jack is doing so well after such a scare. H. xxx
