Wear boots around horses!
shocked.gif

We were bathing the horses yesterday, J9 decided she knew better than mums and jamies advice to put something better than flip flops on her feet ::)

Of course when she wanted to trot up TJ, she couldnt run with flip flops, so again against advice she kicked them off...This was the result! Please bear in mind J9 gets married in 4 weeks and its her hen weekend this weekend :-X :'(

The moment caught on camera! Yes he trod on her foot!

Oh well wonderful timing!!! I have to admit that is a lesson to me because I am forever pissing about in flip flops and sandals around my lot!!

Owie! Thank god it was on grass - if she'd been on concrete, I dread to think what would have happened. Have had a foot squished and even with boots it's just not that much fun.

(We were actually banned from wearing steel toe-caps at the hunt yard. Apparently years before I worked there a big hunter stood on a groom's foot and the toe-cap bent over and just casually chopped her toes off!

I agree with you. Fingers crossed she gets out of the cast in time for the wedding. She only has herself to blame.

Poor girl. We are all human and I doubt anyone on this forum hasn't done at least one daft thing in their lifetime....
Hope all is well by the date of the wedding....
And thanks for giving us a timely reminder.

Oh come on - we've all done silly things when we were younger!
I forgot my boots and when I was helping my friend at a show last year and her Welsh D stood on my foot while I was wearing canvas shoes. I had a hell of a bruise and I dread to think what it would've been like in bare feet.

Could be an interesting walk down the aisle!

They always know better than us, haven't you noticed?

I hope her cast can come off before the wedding.
Can't you just see her in a few years' time telling he own kids to wear footware around horses and shaking her head when they ignore her warnings..
One of these days offspring will realise the reason parents' caution is because they've made the same mistake themselves.....

If I was her I'd print that photo and stick it to the front of the cast - save an awful lot of questions about how she broke it!! I get so fed up of that and by the end I'm making up new and wonderful storys each time

*Makes note to self to always wear proper shoes around horses ( but not steal caps) in future*

I wasnt that young when I took my horses loose shoe off while wearing shorts and a horse fly upset him so he kicked out and he managed to scrape partially removed shoe and hoof down my bare thigh ... ouch.... but I didnt let go as I was afraid he would cut his leg open with it and then when the shoe was off and I sat down the pain really set in. Luckily I cold-hosed it and put myself on 'Couch-Rest' with a Takeaway Pizza.

Sounds just the cure!!!

Gordon Bennet, I bet that hurt ... the horse didn't look to bothered by his faux pas mind you.
Love to know what choice words her future groom came out with, or was he very sympathetic?

Yes, I heard about the steel toe caps and the cut-off toes!!! Yuk.

When I took my young horse to his first show he trampled all over my feet (supposed to be a sign of insecurity, wants to be where you are standing). Even though he wasn't shod, my feet were SO painful afterwards. We went on holiday afterwards and I could hardly walk anywhere.

I hope the wedding is OK and she doesn't have to wear trainers down the isle.

Silly girlie...but as you say we have alll done silly things. Some of more than others.

I had a horse stand on my foot twice in twenty minutes but at least I had boots on. I then had six weeks wearing no shoes or just a pair of sandals. My foot was crushed but not broken. It was excruciating so I totally sy,mpathise with her.

I hope it all heals for her big day.

The moral of this painful story is that we should listen to our mums! The same thing happened to me and my mum kept nagging at me to wear sensible shoes and I thought I knew better. It's a painful lesson to learn but you always think its never going to happen to you! I hope your daughter gets better soon and enjoys her special day.
