Mum got me and my mate Lucca out of bed early with those horrid bobbles in our mane, and off we went "eventin" for the day. L did his stuff first, wobbled round his stressage to get 34.5, scared her doing sj by looking at everything else except the jumps and then leaping them like he was on springs (I told him to do that cos it puts the wind up her - she's not a fan of showjumping really, it makes her ever so tense!

), and then he got a bit confused cross country (dopey beggar) when he saw three corners and was concentrating on one when he should have been jumping one of the others, so had to have two shots at it. Then he decided he'd try and go back to the lorry (probably cos he thought I would eat his hay while he was gone, which I did try to but I couldn't reach it all) so she had to have another go at one (I don't think he understands the cross country part, that if it's vaguely in front of you you're supposed to jump it). Anyway, he got a pat and a polo so it can't have been that bad, and she seemed pleased she hadn't been "jumped off"(whatever that means).

Then it was my go: tbh I'd have been as happy staying in the lorry eating hay (it takes a lot more than eventin to excite me, like a bag of carrots, or breakfast/lunch/tea, or a polo....) Anyway, I think I did a nice stressage, she whinged about it being a bit flat but I always give the woman in the car one of my appealing looks at the end, and it seemed to work today as she said 26.2 was better than all the other poor sods that had to do the same boring thing. Showjumping really does freak her out with me: I don't see the point in giving them much space and she'd been horrible and put something in my mouth that I wasn't very used to (and hope I never have to get very used to

), so I got my back legs in a muddle about 5 times and didn't want to go forwards because of the horrid thing in my gob. I touched one (I've got big feet and it's a long way from my brain to them) and was 0.3 of a second over the time, so we had 5 penalties to add and she was v grumpy about it and said something about BSJA and practice - lots of - dunno what that all means. Now since I've been hunting (ok, it was only once, sadly) I've quite liked getting a head of steam up when I get the chance, so I set off in gallop and jumped everything in front of me. She seemed pretty pleased, particularly once I'd given the new bridge a bit of air (that made her sit up!

) and I got lots of polos after (always a good sign). Apparently I was a bit slow (there's no pleasing some people....) but was 2nd and got points (did I not hear that points make prizes?) so dad bought me and my mates a couple of bags of carrots - yay!!

Will be having a big sleep tonight ready for a heavy day out in the field eating tomorrow.

Fantastic report as always! You certainly earnt youself a drink! & a pat for theboys, even if they did put the wind up Mum a couple of times!
grin.gif

Very careless of Mum to put Lucca's haynet out of your reach HH but that aside - what a FABTASTIC day! Well done

Ross, are you using HHO as practice for sending stuff in to Private Eye?! They always like contributors to be precise about their age. I think you're doing well, a little polishing perhaps, and maybe just a bit of vocabulary enlargement and they'll have your letters any day. The other good thing about being a noted author/scholar, is that you don't have to do much, you can lead a very sedentary life with plenty of time for eating.

Cheeky beggar has been on my laptop again.....

HH is still out in the field filling his face, but said to say thank you to everyone, and he likes the idea of trading polos for points (1 packet per point ideally).

T_E he wondered whether maybe Liberty would like to become a noted author/scholar too, as the lifestyle might suit him?
wink.gif

NB: Just in case anyone is wondering about whether he is doing too much for his age, the plan is to do 3 or 4 events then give him a break and probably BSJA for a while. Trust me, I'm not going to be greedy or be in a hurry with him!

Bless you HH, but you arent allowed to become an author or follow a sedatery lifestyle as you are FAR too handsome not to be gracing us with your presence at parties

Oh I did, and I'm not sure if Lucca has any back teeth left after one really big jump he did in the showjumping.
