It seems that lately, more and more strange things keep happening to me. For example, going to places that aren't at home, and meeting lots of other ponies and horses. Once when we were at the place where we go to do circles sometimes, I even met my friend the Noodle-Head, who used to live in my field until he left! It was really nice to touch noses with him again, and we shared a haynet. :)

Today, the Carrot Lady put my weird feet on, the ones that I wore last summer when my foot hurt. My foot doesn't hurt now, so I'm not sure why I had to wear the weird feet today. The Carrot Lady said that she doesn't want me to have an excuse for not trotting properly when there's stones on the ground. But I don't really understand that, because the stones move around under my feet whether or not I have my weird feet on, and I don't like that at all! :(

First, we went to the square place with a roof on. Except we didn't go in the square place, but in the place behind the square place, where there's some sand and some grass and also some strange bumps in the ground and some jumpies. For some reason, the Carrot Lady gets a bit tense when we're there, and that worries me, and then I just have to turn around and run really really fast to get away. But today, she wasn't tense, and first, we made some circles, which was hard work, because I had to canter lots, and whenever I thought we were done, and were trotting around, I had to canter again. She isn't flapping so much though, so that's good! :)

Then, we went over the weird bumpy ground a bit. That's actually sort of fun! It goes a bit like this: nununununun. Apparently, the trick is to keep a nice even pace whether it goes up or down, and I'm really really good at it! :D I only get to do that in walk and trot, though. She thinks I'm not ready to canter over it. I'll show her!!

Then, we went for a trot in the woods. She's been really insistent lately that we trot lots, and canter lots too, and I hardly get to amble at all any more! What's the great hurry, I ask you??

We got to the bit where the path goes along a big stone step that goes into a flat place. She asked me to go up and down that step a bunch of times, and I was very brave and did it each time, because we've done it before, so I know exactly what to do! But apparently, the Carrot Lady doesn't know what to do yet, because she fell off! I thought about going home, but I let her catch me and get back on, and then we went up the step again, and she was lots better at it that time, and didn't gob me in the mouth or fall off.

Then we went home, and along the way, we met some of my friends, but they were going another way. And then I had to walk past a bit where there were some really really loud people. They were jumping around and running, and kicking round bouncing things! Three round bouncing things! And then there was a big boinging sort of sound right behind me, and I got really spooked! The Carrot Lady turned around and shouted something at the really really loud people; she said she thought they'd kicked one of the round bouncing things into the fence right behind me.

We did another fast trot and a nice fast canter after that, and then we got home. I was pretty sweaty, so I was looking forward to a nice roll, but first, I got my red square thing which I licked lots, and then, I got a carrot! :)

I wonder why the Carrot Lady is so insistent on going everywhere really fast these days, though? It really is very odd.

It all sounds very odd :o - I would keep your eyes and ears open as it sounds like she has a 'plan' for you. Now I don't know what a 'plan' is but mum says we both have one:o - all I know is that ever since she got this 'plan' we are boith having to do lots more work:mad:. If I ever find out where she got these 'plans' from I am going to have a strong word in their ear......Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr :mad::mad:

The Coblet xx

Dear Coblet,

a 'plan'? That sounds worrying! I'll definitely keep my eyes open! What does it look like? How do I keep my ears open, though? I thought they were already open? I didn't know you could close your ears; how do you do that? It sounds like that would be really useful when we meet the really really loud people!

I spoke too soon, yesterday, really. Now my life is getting really odd. All I can say is:
WHY???

I'm sorry for the delay in replying spooky, I've been out naked (but don't tell mum, she put a light rug on me but I took it off when she wasn't looking!) in the sunshine and fell asleep.

It sounds to me like the carrot lady is trying to pluck up the courage to take you somewhere to do a hunter trial (they're really good fun!) or maybe an event. Have you been practicing jumping the silly fally down jumps recently too? if so then I'm sure that's the case. They seem to think that going everywher really quickly will somehow help us, but I'm not so sure. I'm always going to go as fast as I can!

Mum said I could have 2 weeks off then we have to go and do some circles with the nice shouty lady who live on a hill, then more circles in the white boards by a car.... not lloking forwards to it, but once that's over I know I'll get to go cross country. lots of galloping and nice sensible jumpies.

have fun, and enjoy the sunshine! Ron

ETA... ahhh the tooth man... you should be able to eat more carrots and more grass now. This is about the best thing mum ever does for me in a weird way.

Dear Ron,

I think you may be right...I think I heard her say something about "hunter pace" today...is that similar to "hunter trial"? Will I have to learn to run like a camel, the way the pacers do?

So you say the Tooth Man (in my case it was the Needle Lady, but today, she didn't have a needle) is really a good thing?? I did get praised lots for standing still, but I really wasn't very happy about that weird cranky metal thing in my face. Though the tooth-rubby thing itself actually felt sort of good, in a funny sort of way.

She definaitely has a 'plan' for you - hmmm the tooth fairy - next will be the back lady.....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

When she or anyone else pronounces you as 'fit for anything' you will know that more of the 'plan' is about to happen *sigh*

Why do they never include hanging out in the field eating with your buddies in the 'plan' *sigh*

Hi Spooky

I'm new to this forum thing but, I got a good idea for you if you don't like plans. I tried it on Sunday ;) . Not sure what the plan was but I stopped it.

What you do is find a nice heavy old gate (preferably held on by just one hinge) and when your mum (in my case grandma) tries to lead you through it just shove her out of the way, then tread on her and stand back in amazement as the gate falls on her! Really it worked, I got to stand at the hay barn and eat loads while she just sat there on the floor holding the gate til someone strong came and lifted it off her. :)

She did call me some bad names though, but since then I just eat grass all day cos she still can't walk properly!

Best hugs and hay

Honey

Dear BGL,

so as long as she keeps calling me "Whale Pony", I'm relatively safe from "plans"?

Dear Honey,

I don't think we have gates like that around here. However, the Carrot Lady is clearly lame today---she couldn't even trot up. And she didn't sit on me at all! So maybe that means the plans are being postponed?

Carrots,
the Spooky Pony

Hi Spooky!

Carrot Lady seems to have a plan, but I think it will be bring even MORE carrots, so it should be nice :)

Polo mints,

Evil Bonnie, RS pony extraordinaire.

P.S. Honey that was so naughty! Kinda naughty like me, but my favourite trick is when I'm taking the little polo-mint-bringing-human-foals around in their lessons, I like to lunge evilly at any pony that goes in front of me. Oh, and kick too. It's so fun! Thelwell_girl gets very angry at me as she nearly gets kicked, but hey, I'm teaching her to fall off, that's important :D

We won't have a gate like that much longer either :( , Grandma says as soon as she can walk and move her arm she's going to fix it, she said because I'm 34 I should know better. :p

It's good when the human's are lame isn't it, we get a nice day off too. :)

Good luck with your human!

Hi Spooky,
I'm also new to this forum, but I think I have as suggestion for you on how to avoid this 'plan' the others have mentioned. This plan is only good if you would rather spend lots of time in the field eating grass than have a few carrots... hard decision, I know! :p Recently I've found that if I just don't do what mummy tells me, then she leaves me alone! Well, it's slightly more complicated than that, we went to a place with those silly knock-down fences and i only had to not jump twice before we got whistled at and and went home again, then I spent the next two days in the field :). Just to make sure it works, I tried it again yesterday when we went out to jump in the fields, I stopped once and mum ended up on the floor, which I wasn't really intending to happen, but low and behold I had a lovely day out in the sun today! Although now mum is talking about 'fixing my problems' which I don't like the sound of at all, but this would definitely buy you some time to work out what these 'plans' are. Hope I was of some use ;) Good luck
M

My Dearest Spooky,

Your human sounds as scary as mine! Apparently, after many weeks of not a lot happening, my human has one of these plan thingies - her's involves three days away at camp. Camp! I ask you! How on earth am I going to survive the depravations of a camp. Obviously that bang on the head did something to her, and it was not a good something :(

Dentists. Ah yes. We do indeed have to submit, but as I like shiny teeth and find it so much easier to eat carrots when my teeth are neat, I do not mind too much. Please see below for the images:

But the drugs had a bad effect on my balance:

So, my dearest Spooky, I do hope your 'plan' is not too strenuous and that you get many, many carrots to crunch on with your nice neat teeth :).

Your friend as ever, The Dizzy Blonde

Dear Evil Bonnie,
the plan will involve carrots?? Bring on the plan!!!!!

Dear M,

I know exactly the technique you're talking about. I did that one lots last year, because I really didn't like the look of those stripy jumpies! She did lay off those for a while, but I think I'm through that grace period now...

Dear Dizzy One,

thank you so much for your good wishes! What did the Tooth Man do to you, that you had to stand all funny like that? It certainly does look very odd!

Camps are exciting places! I went to one last year. It wasn't so much fun though, because I got kicked, and then I had to spend a week in pony jail.

Carrots,
the Spooky Pony

Dear Spooky,

The plan involves LOADS of carrots! I seem to remember thelwell_girl coming to my stable one morning, all dressed in pink human-rugs (coats I think?), and telling me "Bon-bon if you are good today I'l give you sooooo many polo mints you want know what to do with them!". I for one liked the idea of all these mints, so I took thelwell_girl off to her jumping lesson, and this picture came about (look at her face!) !

Then, the NEXT time she promised polos, I behaved fabulously, we went over trotting poles, fine for me, but the polo-bringer had to go no handed! I also didn't attempt to bite or lunge OR kick (Dawi, the cob in front of me was glad of this, as I do quite fancy eating his bottom :D ) and I was so good. I have NEVER seen so many polos or received so many kisses and hugs in my life!

So I think the plan is a good thing :D

Polos,

Evil Bonnie (or Good Bonnie?)

P.S. Here are me and the polo-bringer, and if I do say so myself, I look like one gorgeous coblet! ;) http://i903.photobucket.com/albums/ac238/rubylovesponies/Bonnie.jpg
